So, a lot of people want a map choice mode, which is fair. Failing that, would you be happy with the temporary solution of being able to exclude at least one map from the rotation? This would be difficult when playing in groups, as everyone would have to make sure they have the same map excluded, but for solo play I think it could bring more enjoyment to the game, or at least less frustration when you get a map that you really don't like.

This would still preserve a lot of the randomness, and it would also give PGI valuable data on which maps players hate, so maybe they could learn which features players really detest.

I voted undecided, because on one hand, I can understand why people hate certain maps, but on the other, those certain maps build character, and SHOULD be causing people to rethink their builds and strategies.

Well, the "new" dropship mode allows players to select 4 mechs and you get to see which map comes up before making your mech selection.

Not sure what to make of it yet.

That would certainly balance things between hate for maps, and choosing a load out appropriate for the map.... if people start thinking in terms of role warfare.

Already on the way. It will be part of the Lobby feature, where players will be presented with 2-3 maps, and will vote for the next map to play.

I like all the maps, more or less, but it gets a bit tedious to drop on the same one 3 or 4 times in a row.

The one good thing about the totally random maps is that it somewhat rewards a balanced build, rather than just dropping on tourmaline and alpine with gauss and ac/2 all day long

This. Hyper-specialised builds should have the downside of being awkward on some maps.

Like, would i like to cut some game's content just because i feel it's not my favorite part? Geez, no thanks.

Let me tell ya one secret. Well, kind of, because oh so many players don't know it, yet. It is: parts we don't like are as important as parts we do like. In a game, and in life just as much. Why? Imagine there would be NOTHING we don't like. Nothing at all. What would happen then? Inevitably, we'd start to separate things we initially like to things we like "the most" and things we like "not so much". The latter will very soon transform to things we do NOT like. Why? Because it's human nature. There can be no perfection, you know? And if, by some magic or something, we'd be unable to make things we previously liked "not so much" into things we do not like "anymore", then even worse thing would happen: namely, the whole deal (in our case, MWO game) would become completely boring. Like, totally boring. We'd stop playing it. This happens in real life with some folks who inherited a huge wealth - more than they could possibly spend during their whole life. They have "everything", all things they do not like are removed, - and then they get completely bored with their own life.

Since i don't want MWO to get boring, and since i am more that willing to face challenges any map can throw at me, - i voted "no".

"Sorry". :(

cherry picking maps is wrong, pure and simple.

People should learn to play with the limitations of the builds they chose and accept that not all games are going to favour their designs

If I can get a 4 kill 700 plus damage with a heat mech like the boars head, in terra therma anyone can.

All the waahh QQ over maps is over played, I can understand being frustrated over mechs stopping dead on small pebbles and trucks, but most of it is simply down to I won't adapt..attitudes.

However, you invade a planet, and its a jungle planet, kind of dumb to be playing on an alpine map.

Only map restrictions there should be, are by planet in the Cw, and for private games

People complain about how PGI are doing a bad job and making the game to easy and like an arcade game, and then in almost the same breath say, but we want to pick the battle field, and some even go as far as to say I shouldn't have to play in big open maps with my brawler build..

I remember all those times in the novels where Mechwarriors would bring the wrong Mech for an environment, because they had absolutely no advance warning of which planet they were going to be dropped on.

It's almost as dumb as having a 'jungle planet' in the first place. For a planet to have such a high temperature that the northernmost extremes don't get frequent snow it would be utterly uninhabitable by anything originating from earth.

Some people's hate is another persons love. When caustic valley arrived a number of people hated it. I didn't.

Hell, I want to exclude maps because I'm tired of NOT getting other maps.
Like a WEEK without getting to caustic because it's a nearly continuous rotation of HPG, River, Collective, with the odd Tourmaline, river or forest thrown in.

Flip side. How many different mechs did they own?

This, was always the case I argued for. Give us the old 'ready' quick select box from the old MWO and give us a choice of which mech to drop in after map choice. Its the best solution IMO.

I do not see this as being a possibility within the current system. It would be hard to remove a map from selection with the voting.

But considering this thread was made in 2013...

Please try to avoid thread Necromancy! It may being the apocalypse...

Or at least zombie threads... Hoards of them... (Sounds like an interesting Halloween event... But we are in the wrong month for this.)
