I've thought a little bit about what could make the flamers special... well, besides the heat production, because it seems like PGI doesn't like flamers and that they could even shut down an enemy mech.
So, here's what I think should happen:
- Give the flamers an additional +50% (alltogether: 50% + 10% = 60%) chance that ammunition explodes when destroyed by a flamer.
- decrease the heat production on the mech that uses flamers or increase the heat production on the target.
- Add heat penalties from 80% heat upwards like a flickering hud or a slower speed or both. ^^
So with these changes I think flamers would not be an awesome weapon, but a usefull tool that has a niche like MGs.
