Not everyone has a numpad. Neither my laptop (Alienware M11x R3) nor my keyboard (Logitech K810) has separate number keys (I'm a Razer Orbweaver user, hence the tenkeyless). It's possible to bypass this pair of instructions by using the W key to throttle to the equivalent points, but new players will be very confused.
