Believe it or not, I'm all for collisions coming back, just as I was all for fixing Raven hitboxes and I'm not playing my spider until it's fixed. I don't pilot lights exclusively, but the fact is they're not nearly as broken as some people seem to think.

Collisions are just going to make bad assaults even more annoyed when a well-piloted light eats them alive.

I'll be glad when collisions come back. While I don't think Lights are OP right now, I do think that collisions will give some of the newer Light pilots, who didn't deal with it in Closed Beta, a pretty hard learning curve. Of course, this will teach them to pilot even better, so watch out for some of those Light pilots to get even nastier when they learn to pilot with some more caution.

This is all I ask. When I see them run into rocks and {Scrap} It also sometimes makes them do a rubberband thing and that's part of my issue as well. I'm ok with their damage. I just think they should have to play smarter/skill with them then running though anything and everything.

I've been killed by a light mech exactly 1 time in the past seven days due to my own stupidity.
See what i did there OP? I admitted it was my own fault.
Maybe you should look to your loadout or your personal skill level and try to improve and not waste time ranting.

You understand nothing. Until my Atlas runs at 136kph, we are not equal. Until my mech torso turn speed matches yours we are not equal. Until my mech can run over all terrain and though mechs like lights do quit talking to me about equality. Lights are fast and with speed the trade off is you're a fly. One mistake you pay for it with your life that is how all mech games except armored core have handled any light mech. This Sim should be no different.

It is a trade off.

Speed for the ability to take a hit. The only mech that is broken in that aspect right now is the Spider with the rest of the mechs being very hittable.

If there was an 'efficient' way to kill light mechs, then there would be no point, AT ALL, of pulling out a light mech because they don't have the armor to stand up to it and have no real role outside of darting in and around battle.

Light v Assault is speed v armor and firepower. The parody between light and assault is actually pretty good right now. A well piloted light can take out an average assault, a well piloted assault can take out an average light.. Assaults have an advantage over bad light pilots but there is a toss up when it comes to good v good pilots in the two chasis.

Good deflection shooting = dead light mech.

Imperius, you've said you had Lights rubber-banding on you lately? Might be your connection/ping, because I haven't see too much rubber-banding in general in the game for a while now.

Nah it's not my ping i sit at 50~60 ping. It's when they hit and object and rubber band though it. It happens from time to time.

Role of a light: Darting in and out of battle giving "quick" supporting fire and or chasing down an almost dead mech, scouting information and positions of main battle force, laser target and line of sight LRM support, and finally ECM. I know the role of a light does PGI, or this community?

Dude, If all you got to say is stuff like that save me the time and don't post. No valid points. Self created fake facts.... Delete your profile and go back to COD <--- See what it did there? I assumed you're a kid raised by XBOX.

Try it.

Take a light and try to run "through anything and everything" and see where it gets you.

Try to survive a whole match without "playing smart" or try to post a great score without using every ounce of skill you have.

Hell, try circling a competent assault and see if it gets you anything but dead.

In short, your ideas on what it takes to do well in a light has absolutely zero connection to reality.

If you cannot acknowledge the fact that it takes skill to kill anything while piloting the lightest, thinnest armoured, least armed 'mechs in the game, there's little else I can tell you but what I've already told you: PvP games are not for you.

In the end, that's all it boils down to; this is a PvP game. Player versus Player - the 'mech shouldn't be the deciding factor in how a match-up ends, player skill should. If I'm killed by a player using his advantages better than I do, good game and I'll usually say so in global chat. I don't go on the forums asking for his 'mech or his weapons, or even the whole weight class he's piloting to be nerfed just because he killed me.

...

As for collisions/knockback, those of us who lived through the unfathomably griefing-prone implementation of collisions/knockdowns in closed beta know better than asking for it back without also qualifying it with "but not in such a terribly broken implementation".

I'd love collision damage back. I'd even go as far as to say knockdowns should be implemented (along with DFA, punching, and kicking). But no way and no how should it be in a form that so actively encourages griefing as the closed beta implementation.

Funny, over the years i've often been mistaken for someone who gives a **** so rage all you like and throw all the try hard insults you can but it doesn't change the fact that you suck at this game if you cant kill a light mech in your badly fit fatlas. I invite you to drop with me sometime so i can show you how its done.

Seems to me it's just a case of players wanna be untouchable in their assault mech, all mechs in MWO have counters and lights are good for tying up / taking out heavier mechs if the pilot isn't paying attention. I regularly run in a jenner and despite claims to the contrary i often get caught up on tiny little rocks and bumps which often result in my death.

Other players also have no problems hitting me despite me weaving in and out of cover / buildings etc, sounds like most people complaining just have a l2p issue. The only part i agree with is if you get wolfpacked by 3 - 4 lights, but if that's the case what are you doing alone so far from your unit to allow them to have that advantage?

Scouting is pretty much useless in this game. That is why I said 'real' role.

The way targeting in this game works means that it is entirely too easy to find a scout mech that is spotting targets. Gear like TAG is entirely too easy to trace back to the source as well. Not to mention that you don't get anything worthwhile for the effort which makes it painfully slow to make any sort of progression while playing a dedicated scout.

Scouting in this game is only worthwhile if you play in a dedicated group with heavy LRM support and focus fire coordination.

The system simply isn't set up for scouting to be worth anything and the developers have shown nothing more but indifference about the scouting situation.

Collisions are comming back in some form, if its like they were in closed beta, its time to shut up shop, as it won't be just the lights suffering.

Now I much prefer my VIctors, nice Assaults to kill Lights with, but you still have to AIM...

I do play lights I'm not that great, but I will grind mastery on the little buggers.

This is whine about nerfing lights because I can't hit them, thread.

I used to hate being caught alone by lights, now I like going 1v1 against them.

Nerfing the ******* of lights because people don't know how to lead a target is completely wrong period end of argument.

sounds like a stand still so I can shoot you

A well piloted Victor can be a real pain to fight in a light. The JJ's really give it the ability to help overcome the turning speed disadvantage of Assaults which makes it harder to stay on the back side of one.

Indeed.
I don't understand people like the OP who rant like this all the while thinking they are faultless. It is entirely possible the OP is doing something wrong when a light is engaging him but heaven help anyone who points it out.

Keep redirecting from the real issues and blaming it on "My skill". I'm done reading your replies.

Another light pilot defending lights and not reading the real issue I'm addressing which is COLLISIONS...

I haven't seen anyone say that collision shouldn't be re-added to the game at some point.. only that it shouldn't be thrown in without any real thought and effort as it was in closed beta.

Every time someone says lights are fine and no changes "collisions" need to happen and it's my "skill" that is the issue. Is people telling me no the game is fine as is and collisions should not be added to the game. Some have said yet they agree collisions should be back. Most keep attacking my "skill" like they know how good/bad I am. It's just trolls trying to fight cause they have nothing better to do.

That is entirely your fault.

Had you made a thread saying 'Collision needs to be re-added to the game', you'd be getting a lot of concurrences and agrees.

Instead you made your post out to be a rant against light mechs and how unfair it is that light mechs don't get harmed from collisions(which is a false statement since any significant reduction in speed is easily a death sentence for a light in the heat of battle).

Sorry, but the tone of this post is entirely on you.

That's not it at all. It could be any number of things. Is there something wrong with lights? Maybe but in my experience I've only ever had problems hitting spiders with their borked hit detection though that has improved since the last patch. In my first response to your OP all i pointed out was that maybe there are other reasons you are having difficulty, like your atlas fit, if it is a bit slow then its torso twist is limited in its response time to the treat you are engaging. I also pointed out that i've been killed once by a light in the past seven days due to my own stupidity, i wasnt paying attention and allowed myself to be in a position where the little ****** cored me from behind. All i did was point out that there was the possibility that you might be making a mistake in the way you deal with lights and what was your response? The usual cookie cutter COD bs followed up with some random xbox comment.
You cant admit that you could be at fault so therefore you will not improve your own situation.
