Loving the game, been playing it a lot, even tho I dont have any time for it (work, marriage, friends, family, hobbies, etc.. ). A hard-to-die, old MechWarrior2 fan, from years -95-98, here.
Just my 2 cents after some few hundreds of matches: light weight mechs should not be able to receive so much damage. It should not be a valid option to attack a heavily armed assault mech with a light baby mech. When I shoot a light baby mech with a gauss rifle and a large laser, two times in a leg, it should be paralyzed, or simply destroyed, right there and now.
Nowadays I spend 30-40% of my gameplay time fighting baby mechs with 150kph speed, and I can barely hurt them with heavy weapons, even with adequate accuracy. Quite a strong armor they have compared to heavy / assault mechs, which are like "427" times larger and heavier.
IMO, thats a balance error, a serious problem. When you feel secure to attack a heavy/assault mech with a baby mech, which is max 20-30% of the size and mass, you can tell something is wrong with the balancing mechanics within the mechs. You should feel extremely threatened by any medium, assault or especially heavy mechs with very heavy weapons.
Light baby mechs should be a valid option for scouting and survey, and quick background support maybe, but not for fighting expert heavy / assault mechs on a standard basis. Some balancing for this little hickup needed, very much, indeed.
Selecting a baby mech should be a heavily weighted tactical option, not an over-powered speed-trip / pleasure against all others. Now they can easily over-power a heavy assault mech, of course with speed, but also with damage resistance in all aspects. It takes way too much heavy damage to take down a speeding "baby" mech, which should have like 10% of the armor comprared to a heavy/assault mech (2 heavy lasers and a gauss rifle on one leg should make woodchips out from that tiny leg). It should be made an error to let any heavy piece to hit you in the first place, or it should be about the skill of the heavy shooter against the speed of the baby mech. If I manage to fire my gauss rifle and a heavy laser on a baby mech, twice, it should be obliterated instantaneously by the power of the weapons (when compared to the resistance/weight/power of other the freakin universe). Should a titanium-truck (something ike Optimus Prime) get hit by the power of the speculated large laser, twice, in this game, it would be cut in half. Like... that.
Just asking some balancing between mechs, thats all. If you choose a 5tkg mech against 100tkg of fire power and armor, you should not even consider getting close to those weapons, nor even try to over-come that 54 billion feet of steel. Just... you know... make it a clear option for everyone.
And of course this is already clearly calculated and all, and Im just making a fool out of myself. I just freakin' hate those annoying little pieces of ****, killing me when Im packed to kill a whole team of Atlas ********
Either way, thank you, the whole team, immensely for the pleasure of this game! Its simply fantastic!
Just saying, best regards,
