Come on, the highest settings in the game aren't even close to the highest the game can offer. If you think it's unstable just add the option but mention that it might be unstable.

Allow us to use our super gaming cards for what they're worth please ;)

I mean, up till now (except maybe early closed beta i've heard) the only way to get the best graphics the game has to offer was a custom configuration file, now last patch, intentional or not the use of this file was broken, for some entirely, for others (myself included) no options can be removed (like that blasted DoF) if the medium (i'm assuming here) in game setting has it on. and oh yeah, the darned film grain that makes the game look slightly worse cannot be removed anymore either.

But since i have a beastly graphics card, most of my options involve higher graphics settings and thus i get an almost-working-as-intended game. except that i have really annoying DoF in it.

check this out.

I've got better looking textures, much better shadows, infinitely better field of view (75 as opposed to 60) whether you can tell or not, i have much better shaders as-well, the max setting for shaders using the in game sliders is i believe 3(very high), mine are set to 4(ultra) my Lod distance is much better (I load and render objects further away from me than anything the in-game sliders will allow, which means objects don't just appear in front of me when i'm within 50 or 100 meters which really makes the game feel better) most shocking part? i feel no performance hit. But this is most likely due to the fact i'm using a high end GTX 670 card, however it is not overclocked at all.

notable settings i've got:

cl_fov = 75
r_DetailDistance = 32
e_LodRatio = 40
r_EyeAdaptationFactor = 0.5 (cryengine default value is 0.85 i think, and i also think that PGI likes to use 0.5 themselves)
r_Sunshafts = 1
r_DynTexMaxSize = 320

r_TexAtlasSize = 4096
r_TexMinAnisotropy = 16
s_FormatSampleRate = 48000 (sound)

I'm just begging you PGI. With ui 2.0 please, please please, and allow me to add... Please!!! give us advanced options, allow us to toggle things independantly (checkboxes) like sunshafts, tessellation, dof, motion blur(already in), bloom, film grain effects.

Please allow us to adjust to any levels the game is capable of(in an expert/advanced options menu)
Anti Aliasing (including ssao)
Decals
FoV
Reflections
LoD (distances and quality)
HDR (Level, Bloom, EyeAdaptationFactor, Blueshift)
Shaders
Shadows (Quality, Blur, What cast's shadows, etc)
Sound (Sample rate, surround/stereo/mono, etc)
Textures (Quality, Anisotropy)
Water!

Give us some power to set the game to ridiculously demanding settings if that is what we want in the game menus, If you can't do that then at least don't take the config file from us! please PGI, do this for us! Put an effort into the options menu! some of us players just really love settings!

Anybody else who sees this and this matters to, please discuss it and remember that screenshots speak a lot louder than words sometimes if you can put in the effort.

Here is something that i was working on pre-patch, it's based on the settings files in here, also 1 shot of an unmodified game on max settings and then my own settings(in that picture my settings are incomplete, but almost complete still, i just had a few settings left to increase but then the patch arrived and broke things before i could finish, also note that due to print screen, quality is reduced and due to upload online quality is decreased even further)

I run game just fine on overclocked HD 5850 on very high. Graphics in this game are mediocre for 2014 PC game on CryEngine3, imo. There should be ultra setting, or make very high look better.

Hmmm.. I would be very interested in seeing a broader range of options for video settings in game as well. I feel its just a tad limited in that respect.

Rabcor where did you enter those settings? And are they working as of this latest patch?

Theres a link in my original post pointing to the thread which contains the stuff needed to configure the user.cfg

user.cfg is meant to be located at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\user.cfg"

make it, and add this line at the top of the following code

cl_fov = 75
;If you want tesellation, has a massive performance hit.
e_Tessellation = 1
;Shading
q_Renderer = 4
q_ShaderFX = 4
q_ShaderGeneral = 4
q_ShaderGlass = 4
q_ShaderHDR = 4
q_ShaderIce = 4
q_ShaderMetal = 4
q_ShaderPostProcess = 4
q_ShaderShadow = 4
q_ShaderSky = 4
q_ShaderTerrain = 4
q_ShaderVegetation = 4
q_ShaderWater = 4

Basically in the above code, the only thing i know 100% for sure that is working is the FoV command, But i highly suspect the other things i mentioned in that codetag of mine work as well. granted the guide from the link is followed (for example if shader options are supposed to be configured, shading option in your attributes file must be set to 0)
