Or alternatively... there long lanes with no cover except at either end.. aka terra firma or canyon network.
I have alot of urban fighting mechs rusting.... simply because the few maps they could be effective on rarely ever come up.
If were gunna have more gigantic maps... atleast give them alot of cover and freedom of movement.

other than alpine i find it absurdly easy to get in on top of targets on every map.

River city is an urban map, but its also fairly balanced, there are good sniper positions that can cover a decent portion of that map.
I mean a full on urban or otherwise heavy cover everywhere map... with lotsa small alleyways for mediums and lights, and cover everywhere.. preferably more towards the scale of terra firma but easyier to navigate because you don't have to circle round giant mountains.
Its all good to say theres frozen and river city.... but i get alpine at least 3 times more often then I do river city, give us a really truly urban map, make it decently big... and let us be getting it more often then every other map because its being 'tested' for a while.

I can only assume you are particularly bad at brawling. What you're asking for is terrain that is so full of cover that even an ***** can close the range with impunity. Try a method other than a headlong rush into a waiting defense. You might improve your performance.

Exactly, the kinda map to breed paranoia of hidden ambushes, where no man will dare tread without aid of a seismic sensor.

Unessarily rude and missing the point, I can only guess you're so terrified of fighting in a real urban environment you react violently to the idea.
We have a map highly biased towards sniping, we should also have one highly biased towards brawling.

agreed.
i have one mech with an ERPPC currently, it is a jenner, and i don't think any of my 7 mechs uses a gauss rifle. i think the only two effective long range mechs i own besides my lrm mech (hunchback 4SP with 2x LRM20, i call it "the drizzle") are a hunchback 4G with 2x UAC5 and an AC2 (a grind build that has proven amazingly effective and earned a permanent home within my mech bays) and my atlas RS with 4x large lasers (43 heatsinks is why i love this beast).
alpine is the only map i really have any difficulty with brawling. every other map is painfully easy to approach enemies. in fact back in the days before the missiles were given individual AOE when SRM were 2.5 damage i had i match where i killed two enemies on river city with my SRM catapult C4 BEFORE i took any damage (ALL of my armor was still gray), my third victim was a crippled atlas that only had two medium lasers left and i let him hit me because i didn't really care.
