I have had Hawken installed for some time I have played both games as they have progressed After the last few patches to MWO I just feel the game is moving in a direction I don't want to play much the mechs are slow to maneuver they die very very easy the weapons are overpowered and unbalanced the meta or CW is not there to help the game along. Its truly a shame the mechs are so great looking and the maps are wonderful but even simple things like good joystick support and a good zoom are absent makes you feel like your playing a simple FPS on Xbox360.And to be honest I think the game was designed for the Xbox first then ported to PC in its current form. Hawken is a good mech game the mechs are very maneuverable and its just fun but it has its drawbacks also like dodge mode. But in a lot of ways it mirrors what real mechs might look and be like in the real world if they were to be made. Please post your comment on bolth and I really like both games im just playing Hawken more now they have slowed the mechs down 50% and made the game more fun Also you can group with friends and have private matches now for fun and training. It is also a free mech game==== http://www.playhawken.com/ Posted Image

Well, bye. Have fun.

But thanks, we're here because MWO is the kind of mech combat we want.

Hawken is a shooter with mech skins. It's a cool game and all, but it's not Mechwarrior. That is all.

Hawken is a cool game.

It's not sensible to expect MWO to be fast-paced and balanced as it is MW, and Hawken was created from scratch. It is cool and all and even I play it once in a while, but I prefer MWO, with all of the wrong choices.

Hawken reminds me way too much of something like CoD or even Halo for that matter; a jumping running twitch speed shooter where the robots feel like they're made of flimsy metals floating on unlimited fuel jets.

Mechwarrior by contrast actually has some meat to it; like I'm actually surrounded by several tons of armour taking a beating from weapons that would otherwise devastate light vehicles or infantry. Mechwarrior is also a strategic shooter; positioning, planning, tactics are important variables (some exceptions of course; Alpine's Epsi ridge, Caustic cap-circling). Mechwarrior also has an extensive history, very rich lore, mature community (AWESOME community i.e. Sarah's Jenner [RIP]), among other things.

If I wanted to fly around all quick and light, I'd play Flight Simulator. For me, Mechwarrior is the only "stompy robot" game.

If you think giant running television sets, hot water heaters and refrigerators look more like what real mechs would look like, your daft!

I am with you this game is going nowhere fast. But that game is just horrible. Id rather not game at all if hawken was the only mech game out there. As much as this game gets on my last nerve, its the only "real" mech game out. I just hope a bigger company can pick up battletech and roll with it. PGI/IGP seams to be run by a bunch of frat boys who have no grasp of the industry or how to time manage. Maybe because they are playing and high5ing each other while they drink beer instead of looking at this as their income base and how they pay their bills. Only time will tell.

I've been playing Hawken a lot too lately, now, hear me out, LOOK PAST THIS "US vs THEM" mentality everyone has whenever Hawken is mentioned, and listen for a moment.

Hawken has a lot of very very cool and fun ideas that, while playing, I wonder to myself, why the hell don't we have any of that in MWO despite it being in development so long? In Hawken they have a game mode called Siege mode where you collect resources, similar to Conquest in MWO, ONLY, once you collect enough resources, you have to take these back to your home base (safely I might add, if the enemy kills you you'll lose all the fuel you've gathered and they can take it for themselves from your destroyed mech). Once you've gathered enough fuel, the large ship at your base takes off and begins flying slowly towards the enemy base to attack it, and at this point, another level of gameplay opens up, as the air raid sirens go off and you have to fight to defend the Anti Air battery emplacements near your base in order to shoot down the enemy ship.

Now this leads to some really dynamic gameplay with ACTUAL role warfare at play, and it makes me think, why the hell don't we have something like this in MWO instead of the crappy Conquest mode we have now? Why can't we have Dropships and "anti-air" mechs actually doing something? Can you imagine how cool something like that would be in MWO? I think it's dumb that a game everyone says really isn't a mech game has more immersion than MWO itself half the time when it comes to being immersed in battle, they actually make you feel like you're really fighting a war in Siege Mode.

And if you think CW will be anything different other than what we already have now, except with a new faction score tally screen, you're pretty deluded.

So what I'm trying to say is, where's my MWO Siege mode PGI?

Im not going anywhere I still play MWO and think in a lot of ways its a great game it just needs to evolve past a grind FPS with no meta? Like I said both have there up and down sides to game play but right now with the game modes and the ability to group with friends and train and play matches in a private server Hawken is just more fun overall right now. Wintersdark is your stereotypical hater please go post in some one else's topics sir. Posted Image

Hawken is {Scrap}
the art style is lacking
The mechs have poor design, they look like boxes with legs...
I do not like the style of hawken
This is personal preference though
I tried playing the game and I just cant get past the fact that all the mech have dirty windows...
the game is grainy, the grpahics are sub par, and the gameplay was frustrating
I will stick with MWO

Stereotypical hater? What? Did you even read my post? It was very short, but clear. In it, I said Hawken was a cool game. There was no hate whatsoever in my post, nor is there ever.

But the thing is, they are apples and oranges. Entirely different games. Its not Us vs. Them or any such {Scrap}.

Your complaints about the overall game? Their essentially pointless. Community warfare is coming here, as fast as PGI can. Everyone wants it, PGI knows everyone wants it. Hell, PGI wants it - an overall purpose to battles drives player retention and attraction, so they obviously want it in ASAP.

Hawken is more polished, but hawken has a vastly larger team developing it and much deeper pockets. Like it or not, agree with PGI's methods or not, don't doubt they are doing the best they can.

I meant no hostility with "Well, bye." I understand completely when people want more from the game. But your only options are to play or not to play, in whatever amounts you do. Saying you're off to play Hawken is basically just trolling, because you know you'll get rabid responses.

honestly this post should not be in this subforum, this has nothing to do with MWO or its metagame...

Because real military forces dump all their fuel exactly in the middle between their base and the enemy's and then both decide they want to attack at the exact same time, but oh wait, they need that fuel they just tossed out there. Just kind of ruined the mode for me, I mean if I remember correctly it's supposed to be some post-apocalyptic setting with factions fighting over resources, but it just seems silly that the fuel is just kind of there, ripe for the taking, perfectly centered between two hostile bases.

Sorry, that was pretty much all I had to argue with, everything else I agree with, especially the whole CW thing.

Also, where's our dropship mode in MWO? You know, the one they were talking about before the game was even in closed beta?

Slow, stompy, ground-bound machines with limited jump capacity that feel like a vehicle are the kind of mechs I like, thus I'm a big mechwarrior fan. And yes, I'm one of those guys who's made fun of Hawken's "CHASE THE SQUIRREL" playstyle....... But:

As soon as their "ascension" patch goes live, I'm going to give them a shot. I mean, what the hell, I've played and liked some of the Gundam and Armored core games, this could be fun too.
Hawken's also got a lot of neat features coming from what I've seen. Single-player instant action mode with AI teammates, a level system that lets you get every mech for free (as long as you're okay with the grind), a lore / background being told with a graphic novel they're selling...
Honestly, this game is starting to look pretty decent.

Besides, maybe I'll find someone to play with, ALL of My pug mates have pretty much abandoned this game, and I can't find a merc unit I like, so it's pretty dull out there right now...........
