Dear Spiders Last Match

Here's where I've got beef: People have been complaining about Spider hitboxes since forever, but as soon as I murder THREE IN A ROW, you've got to admit that maybe it's just piloting error, pilots that can't sit still under pressure and let the Spiders run themselves out. As an aside, Hit Rewind is pretty ******* spot on now, everything I shot died like it should have. The worst part is the Spider pilots ACTUALLY THOUGHT I was some kind of cheater, that it was entirely "too easy" to land consecutive shots with an Autocannon 20. Spider pilots. Complaining. About. Being. Shot.
... ******* what.
Instead of complaining about Lights being OP, or Assaults boating PPCs are OP, you should be pushing yourselves to be the best pilot. I try to avoid these conversations now, but damn. Skill recognizes skill, and kids you got none.

Agreed, I get a little heated sometimes. But I feel sometimes people discount the Pilot aspect of this game. When they die, few consider a Pilot error; instead the guns are bad, or the mech is too weak, etc etc. I was just pissed after the Spiders caught some lip about me killing them. Thanks for the kind reply, even though I left myself waaay open to some shittalking haha.

To the point that it is worth it to carry 5 tons of AC20 ammo. Brute.
Well done.
I'm not particularly as good (1.92/1.96 in the HBK-4G and 4H who bring 20's) but if I'm practiced up/been playing my Hunchbacks for a week and a light comes around - I don't miss often. Pop goes the weasel.

People need to learn to play before crying.
Next nerf? 3x PPC ac10? 3x Erll gauss?
please play and stop complaining.

Spiders are admittedly more difficult to hit than the larger lights, but the most they can mount without severe overheat problems is 3ml or 1ppc (And the PPC sucks up a LOT of important tonnage.) I've played 3mpl thoroughly, and it's just too hot or takes too much weight away from ECM/JJ/AMS, just like the ERPPC.
The proper way to counter spiders is by calming down, slowing your movement rate, and taking careful aim using armlock when firing. I smoke spiders constantly with my BJ-1, and I never really had a problem with them on my highlanders or dragons, either. It's just a matter of countering their hyperactive movements with patience.
With that being said, SDRs were unquestionably neigh impossible to hit without first finding the sweet spot in front of them, but now, they are bugs waiting to be swatted. At this point in the game, the only reason I as an individual am able to survive in one is by being very, very dodgy and unpredictable. (Any light whose tactic is running in circles and failing to use JJs deserves an AC20 round in the face, and most of them usually get one.)
It really is just a matter of improving your gameplay and reducing piloting errors, which is a learning process and takes time. Now, after playing carefully and learning how to do so, I can snap the legs off a spider without too much fuss, and prevent the same against my own spiders.
"Learn to play" is a bit rude, so I'm going to go with "Be patient while you learn to play, and you will improve more quickly."

Which means, things are as they should be.
When Spiders first came out..they were death traps. They, with a couple of patches they became very decent lights if you knew how to pilot them.
Then, the hitbox fiasco. I was either A) Unstoppable or Could unload LITERALLY 100s of points of energy damage into a single spider and have him not go more than orange.
Well, things seems to be pretty ok now.
I did have to scale back on my arrogant kamikaze you-cant-touch-me playstyle.
Now, that I am back in the real world, it's still a good mech, just no more GOD-MODE.
Peace out.

5 tons, that is so much ammo haha. I only bring 3, so I can still have 3 medium lasers, and a STD 250. The larger the engine the faster you swing that beast around to put it on-target. It's very ammo-limited, but if you can reliably hit you'll be okay. I've never ran out and had less than 2 kills at LEAST, usually more towards 3 or 4 kills. With such a silly chassis like the Hunchback, practice in using it's unique geometry is almost as important as being to aim. I like to stick the big gun around a corner and core a medium and withdraw, only for them to chase into my entire team haha.

I agree with OP fully on this subject. (I pilot a SDR-5D and BJ-1 primarily)

I was just really upset when they minimized the amount of work it is to pilot that wonky mech, it really hurt my feelings haha. I also pilot a Spider, it's really fun to hop over them. A 5D with 3ML 7 JJs, and ECM, and max armor and engine is one of the more FUN builds. You don't do SO much damage, but if you can reliably aim at a weak point you can pick arms and side torsos off, or a weak leg or back armor. And with Jumpjets you can quite easily hop over them, it helps to change directions midair, use a short hop in the opposite direction, mechs hate it haha.

I don't know, there's still something there. It's hard, sure, but not impossible. But Jenners it's fairly easy, but you still see loads of them running around. I don't think hitboxes will kill Spiders, they are still an asset to a team, they are the literal best harassers in the game right now, the ECM and Jumpjetting trolling just makes it so easy to rile an enemy's flanks and have a lance chase you into the backfield.
