Short answer: No

Long answer:
If you're able to pick the mech, regardless of whether you can pick the map, you are invalidating any semblance of tonnage limits.

If you're able to pick the map, regardless of whether you can pick the mech, you are going to "remove certain maps" that people hate...

Neither is an incentive for anything positive. It must come with a drawback to the "custom mode" or a bonus to the current system if this is in the cards.

This would be easier if you just say exactly what you mean.
You think not being able to choose map is worse somehow for brawlers? If so, then yes...as it should be.
Btw there are no snipers in MWO other than the gauss rifle, which is harder to use at long range now (but still easy to brawl with), and LRM's haven't had their range increased like other weapons, and with the majority of maps being made for brawlers it would be pointless anyway. They aren't a good enough weapon as it is.

And you should have said that at first, instead of wasting time. All the random map choosing does is penalize short range weapons at the expense of the long range ones. You don't need to bother responding to this.

It's called building a balanced mech. I have no pity for someone who chooses to use only short range weapons then complains they were shot by someone with a longer range than them.
That's like building an LRM-only mech and complaining someone shot you at under 180m.

No it's not balanced unless you are living in a fairly world. As I said all it does is encourage long range weapons since they can function at all ranges (except LRMs).

The only thing I have against knowing the map before you chose your Mech is, I don't want to see everyone using the same thing.

Dropship is coming as a part of the Lobby
You bring 4 mechs into the matchmaker. When you find out the map, you can pick one of those four to drop with
BAsically -> Launch -> Lobby (You will be able to vote on what map to use and chat with opponents.) -> Chose Mech out of 4 -> Drop
Dunno if i like it but it is coming.(I tend more to i don´t like it).Maybe i reconsider and find it convenient.ATM i think it is a loss.
