1: C-BILL GRIND- When you first start playing you receive a 25 game c-bill bonus (that you have no knowledge of having til it's gone). Which results plenty of bank to buy an Assault if you wanted. Afterwards the grind becomes absurdly long to make enough cash to buy upgrades like engines, double heat sinks, or even a new mech.
2: Pilot Lab- Seems awesome, then you realize you need 3 variants of the same mech to reach the next tier. (which is op)
3: Mech Bays- 4 seems plenty in a Free-to-Play model, then after you purchased 2 different mechs you come across the Pilot Lab Wall. Then you know 4 isn't enough lol.
4. Item Prices- Engines, upgrades, modules, and even the majority of mechs are pretty damn expensive once you factor in the grind without bonuses.
5. MC- The cost of mechs is absurd between 5-30 bucks each. Even the common mechs are expensive. And you don't find out about that majority of the Hero mech's suck until you tried one yourself or read about it. Premium Accounts - 30% bonus to c-bills and exp, weak! Color Schemes is over the top and expensive too. I thought Hawken was bad at this but damn, Hawken is at least some what reasonable in the $ value.
6. Chat- Unless you're in a match there is no way to chat with the public and meet folks.
Hopefully for new folks to MWO don't find out things the hard way like I did. Because now MWO is losing another player. But I do believe that is what the business model is built around, getting as much money from a player before they quit. Not to keep their interest peaked and holding onto that player as long as possible.
This game has so much potential too
