Some of us really would love to have a decent *Death Match*.

Others instead..

Prefer to to see their stats going up no matter what.

Remember that winning by capturing over and over again will absolutely help boosting your stats (W/L Ratio) .... But WILL NOT help you to improve your SKILLS.

So if you want to become a good pilot I would suggest to fight until the end even if you are the last man standing.

What do you think?

I used to cap a lot at first to increase my stats, but found out that it was not good for farming money nor to become a better pilot. So now I do try to get out there and have as much FUN (Killing or dying) out there.

So to make it short: Skills are hell more important than stats

If you are a light pilot your first job is to scout, second cap and last is mix it up. You owe it to your team to try and get a win not die in a futile fire fight with mechs specifically made for the job. Skills can be developed while doing your primary roles.

Stats don't take into account sacrificing yourself to lure the enemy team away so your team can win, stats don't take into account you running all over the map the entire game doing nothing but hitting cap points so your team can win because you had more points than the enemy team and you are the last mech standing. Stats don't take into account you opening up the CT on 8 different mechs so your team can finish them off. They don't take into account how you managed to survive 5 mechs for long enough to kill 2 because you never stood still and were making sure all that damage you were taking was spreading across your entire mech.

Stats are nice to look at, but thats about it. They have no real representation of the skills of a player.

Yes, but it's not always the case.

Death match can be just as skillless as capture. KDR chasers are doing themselves a greater disservice than the w/l chasers...

Played 12 man games much ?
You can die in 1 second as long as 4 mechs focus fire on you.

This where skills don't matter and at times you need to take one for the team.

I think that stats don't mean all that much. Like a lot of you have said, it doesn't matter if you get kills or not just matters how much you helped the team. I am usually good for a kill or 2, but i pilot a Jagermech and typically said back and unleash hell with my twin gauss or my quad AC/5s. So therefore, i guess in my case the only stat I would like to start seeing is kill assists.

Maybe stats padding explains this {Scrap}.

Skill shows in stats. Look for other excuses why they are bad.

Maybe KDR because you can manage to survive and get as many kills as you can.

But when you PUG, sometimes you end up dropping with a $hi╤ ╤y team that in a matter of 4 minutes is already losing 7-0. By then you will most likely wont be able to pull a win for your team and own stats.

So again KDR stats (useless stat btw) is one you can improve by yourself while...
On the other hand WLR (ELO) is not only up to you.

The more you carry than your weight consistently, the better your w/l will be. Obviously k/d will reflect strong plays too.
