So it dawned on my that all the dc going on isnt just crashes - but people actively farming multiple games.

I thought about it, and even if you lose and contribute nothing, you get a base amount of xp and cbills. Anything over a non-zero number is bad.

once the game goes 'live', this will become a much larger problem, I have seen it in other games.

"Why should i waste all that time fighting one game? When I can log into 2/3/4/5 games at a time and get a steady large amount?"

The way to fix it is easy. If you do zero damage, you only get xp or cbills if you are still logged into that game when it ends. if you dc you get nothing.

Second - when you dc you need to be able to get back into a game - it is strange this is not a feature.

Games are only a max 15 min anyway - there should be a limit of like...2 games you can have a mech in anyway. That way the rewards for farming by dc should be worse than actually playing.

And last - track player dc as a stat. if it is over a very small number then they should quickly start getting banned. Specifically dc within the first minute of the game, and before you are killed. After being killed is a different story. But if you dc 2 seconds into a match - that sounds like farming and it screws over the other 11 players.

"but maybe he/she has a bad connection" - that reason only works for a couple dcs. Especially if you can log back in after(thats getting added right?) If a player really has such a bad connection that they dc 1 out of every 2 games - then they should not be playing group online games. I hae seen that in other games and people again basically screw over the team they get placed with because they cant contribute - but take up a slot because they are 'trying'.

If you cant connect - play offline games.

No company has ever banned a person for deliberate Disco, or walking out of bounds,Wargames don't so PGI won't with its numbers, its the curse of playing with people instead of AI's

All you can do is record the name and keep an eye on it and make sure those kind of selfish unreliable people don't join your regiment/merc unit/clan, if you happen to be in one

Many companies have a report feature and ban people for farming or griefing or messing with the game like that.
if it is not done here it is going to be a much bigger problem when the gold farmers come in and start up on live.

Yes, this has been a problem since forever whenever they lower income.
Yes, the obvious solution is to make the game pleasant to play, as opposed to painful.
No, PGI doesn't seem to have learned this yet, and everytime they lower income this far, suicide farming is what you get.

Ran across at least the second person have seen in multiple games dc right at the start.

Who needs to suicide? Dc as you load, start new mech, dc, new mech, dc...30k cbills per match so you can make like 250k say every 10 minutes without having to fight or do anything.

There are still a number of reasons why someone may disconnected. During last Fridays stream Daeron client froze two times in a row after the match started and he had to disconnect and restart the client. I myself had matches start loading and then drop before I even got to see who was on the teams. Don't just assume that the disconnects are deliberate unless you see a pattern from a specific player. Also remember that there are 8 more players in each match now, so the likelihood of one of them disconnecting is higher than before 12v12 was implemented.

if you DC at the start of a match, you get zero cbills. It was changed quite a long time ago (back when you got 75k win/loss) so that early dc/suicide cbills were zero'd out.

The only thing players might be getting right now is the cadet bonus, since that was introduced later on.

(after X amount of minutes you can overheat/die and get cbills, but not at the start)

They have a hotfix coming to fix crashing, so I think what you're seeing was mostly legit crashing, not DC on purpose for farming.

Or maybe changing the way, C-Bills are awarded.

Cadets get a bonus for their first 25 matches, but afterwards it's strictly performance-based:
No hitting, no spotting, no capping, not providing ECM-cover (discriminator: team-member gets hit while being covered by your ECM)? No money.

Except PGI has already banned people using the AK macro when it was being used to farm 20x the cbills per match that you can now. :)

AFK farming was so very out of control they had to do something. EVERY match had 3 or so afkers, I would say at least one was due to instability of the game at the time though lol. One thing they did was ban accounts doing it. The other was to modify cbill earnings so that you actually had to contribute to earn them rather than show up.

What that meant was better players still earned plenty... and no one cares the rest of the fodder anyway lol
