my play style is more over of defensive/sniper so i was thinking of perhaps of yen-lo-wang but I do want a heavy or a assault

ill just put down a list of what i like and dont like in a mech so you glorious gentlemen can suggest the right mech for me

I LIKE
PPC's (ER)
Ballistic weapons

DONT LIKE

You might want to take a look at the Muromets. Play around on the loadouts on smurfy ( http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ab#i=54&l=stock ) and see if it has something you like. Chances are it will. Dragon Slayer might be another choice if you like the Victor or jumping in an 80 ton mech.

Best advice is to check out smurfy though and see what builds you can come up with to fit your style.

Flame (one of the hero Dragons) can mount a Gauss Rifle (or AC20) on its shoulder, energy weapons in each arm, and an XL engine for speed (Currently have mine equipped with an XL300).

Yen-Lo-Wang with an XL300 engine and an AC/20 is the most fun I've ever had with a mech, though. I can't recommend it enough.

Other hero mechs I've tried are the X5 and Protector, and I've had fun with them both but I'm not sure if they're quite what you're looking for (X5 too light, but fast; Protector can only really get great speed with an XL engine and its side torsos get blown off too often for me to consider an XL in it)

My suggestion would be the Dragon Slayer or Protector. Both of which are a little on the slow side, but in my opinion the weapon slots appear flexible, and able to accomodate any desired playstyle. Although I haven't piloted either, so I woulnd't know for sure...

I can tell you a little about Misery, since it's the Hero mech that I purchased.

[Rant]

I've wanted to pilot a Stalker since I first saw one in Ghost Bear's Legacy. In MW2:Mercs I bought a Stalker as soon as I could afford one, then continued to beat the final campaign with a full lance of Stalkers. I am fond of missiles and lasers, both of which are supported by the very unique Stalker frame. I know there's cute names for it like "combat cucumber" "leg zeppelin" "battle blimp" but these are names by pilots who do actually appreciate the mech. It's an assault class; not so heavy as to tilt the dropship (i.e. Atlas) but feels very assault-like with it's tank-like attitude and unlike those fast-moving heavy-promoted-to-assault (Awesome, Victor) variants. The mech itself is relatively short with high-mounted weapons, the majority of it's weight distributed length-wise rather than being tall or fat. This offers a low profile but with lots of weapons when facing it head-on. When Misery first came out I bought one within the first few minutes. I was disappointed when I found out Misery had very limited missile slots, but that wasn't going to be a deal-breaker.

Colourful paint and shiny polish are for hangar queens and royalty show-guards. Misery's paint is charred and bullet-ridden from a brutal life on the battlefield; every scratch every dent representing some poor sucker who once stood against this mighty Stalker. The dorsal barrel on her left flank makes Misery truly unique, symbolizing a battlemech you do not want to *bleep* with; she'll duel an Atlas with armour left over to finish the push on an enemy base. She's a fighter, a survivor, rugged and reliable. Misery is my mech, through and through, with nearly 1200 matches she's the deadliest mech I own and the scoreboard always reflects her battlefield supremecy.

[End rant]

TL;DR. You're going to spend real money on a bunch of digital 1s and 0s that have no real advantage over any other player or mechs available for the in-game currency which otherwise costs you nothing. You should spend it on a mech that speaks to you, that you are passionate about. PGI will keep coming out with more Hero mechs as the game progresses, if there's no Hero mech that speaks to you now, be patient, the right mech will come along.

(unless of course you're a hoarder with money to burn in which case my entire post is moot)

Yeah, Ilya, Misery, Heavy Metal, at least until PGI finds a way to make Mediums more effective.
