I'm pretty much finished with my Atlas now, and I am looking for another chassis to work on. I've decided for the most part, I want to focus on mediums and heavies. There were my favorites in the other MW titles, and remain so here. I can also fill hole in our tonnage limits when that comes out. So, here are my choices.

Victors. Yes, it's an assault but my understanding is it handles like a heavy. Good mobility, jumpjets, and great firepower. I also like the idea of a jumping AC20, and I love brawling. Howeverver, it is expensive, even if I do have a 350XL available.

Orion. Looks like it will live up to the idea of benefitsng a mini-Atlas, with brawling yet again being the focus.

Montero. I hear the moans already, but SRMs are my second love, right behind ballistics. This thong has them in spades, and would also allow me to run LRMs if I want.

What do you think, and why?

all i have to say for medium is hunchback, you may like SRMs but the hunchback 4G is just an Amazing machine, its pretty flexible in terms of build and can also be quite durable considering

I did the Hunchies a long time ago. They were my first mech, actually. At the time, HSR wasn't in place, and in a fit of rage sold my AC20 4H after pouring multiple rounds into the back of an Atlas with no damage registration.

the CT is a little large, but gotta say, the bigger issue is the amount of rear torso damage I have taken FROM THE FRONT. Back to a crater wall, no opfor or allies behind or on my flanks, just mechs in front, and my rear torso gets cored out. PGI, would ya please stop leaving cracks and crevices inbetween sections for damage to splash through?

Victor would be my first choice since it is just a great mech with alot of versitality.

As to the other two. I would likely go for Orion over the Kintaro simply because 75 tons is the sweet spot for heavy mechs and it has such diverse build out options that you have a ton of flexibilty.

The problem with the Kintaro is that it is just not that good. Sure you can SRM boat it, but then you have to deal with alot of Ghost Heat and the amount of ammo you have to carry to feed 4-5 SRM6s is staggering. Also to be honest, you really need Artemis to make those SRMs into mech shreading, killing machines. However that adds alot of weight and your already weight starved on a 55 ton mech. Lastely you have to survive to get in close with those SRMs and I am not sure the Kintaro has the durability required to really do that.

You are right but its just not the hunchback I have noticed this on all the mechs I have bought and used on multiple accounts PGI is unwilling to admit the hitboxes are all way to big on CT/back/torsos the mechs are very flimsy and die to fast once the battle begins. Also there is damage leakage from CT to back and to other parts of the mech which would be ok if the mechs had more armor and PGI used a splash damage calculation instead of damage to exact area calculation. I would go Kintaro it is a fabulous mech in speed and loadout but like all PGI mechs its life span is very short in 90% of the battles unless you can hit and run and back shoot mechs. In a face to face confrontation 1v1-1-3 good luck most mechs cant stand and fight straight up for more that 30 seconds which really sucks. P.S and if you overheat now a lot they nerfed all the heat sinks again so go light on weapons more heat sinks.

Would say VTR

then Orion, then Kintaro.

I like Mediums, but I don't like Medium brawlers, per se, and that is really the only role the Kintaro seems to do well in, boating SRMs or SSRMs. The Orion seems decent (aside from it's relatively large CT), but until the other freebies are out to really test, I can't recommend it. I have mastered every VTR variant out there, and feel that it is possibly the most versatile mech in the game, able to do anything but Scout, essentially (and the DragonSlayer can do a decent Charger impersonation with a 400XL and "Steiner Scout"), has JJs which can be HUGE, and pack all 3 weapon categories. The size is not horrible either.

If pressed, I would list the VTR, Jagermechs and then Cataphracts as the best mechs in the game, in that order. (With Stalkers, Jenners and Centurions in the second tier, mostly because they are more role and style specific)

Victor it is. I was kinda leaning that way, but the cbills...

I should be able to pick up the S tomorrow. Also, is the Dragon Slayer worthwhile? I ha en't heard much about it, and what I did hear was mixed. Some good, some not so good.

Ok, I have no problem with that. However, I'd like to know your suggestions.

Ok, so I picked up the Victor S last night, with enough c bills to spare to kit it out. The stock loadout was fairly nice looking with a few tweaks, and I had a spare 350 XL sitting around. Basically, I have an AC 20, two SRM6 and a SRM4, and two MLs. At least 3 JJs three tons of ammo for the AC and 4 for the SRMs, and near max armor, except the legs. Heat is 1.34. How does that sou d for a starting build?

Nope. I'm not too great at the one light I have right now. I'd rather focus on what I do well.

Took this loadout for a spin this morning, and I love it! The agility and firepower are amazing!

All the Victors are well rounded mechs. I have a DS, 9S & 9K.... They have supplanted the Cataphract as my favorite mech in the game ATM.

The Victor not a full on brawler IMO, I have the S with 2UAC/5's, 2ML and 3SSRM's it's very good in a fur ball and you not taking focus fire from more than one mech, I also have the K - 1 Gauss, 1 ERPPC, 2 ML and 2 SSRM's good sniper with some up close protection and decent heat management.
