Announcing the War Hounds Mercenary Corps, previously known as the Grey Knights! For some time, our members have been trying to get on MWO, but have faced Internet connection challenges and other problems of that ilk, which kept us from ever formalizing our Merc Corps. Now, however, we are finally able to do so.
The War Hounds are a lance strong and are currently recruiting friends to join. We hope to become an eight-Mech battle unit soon. Current members are Nightmare1, BerserX, Warmonger005, and GearWorks. Look for us on the battlefield!

Hi everyone, my name is Nightmare1 and I am the Lance Commander for the War Hounds Merc Corps. I predominately pilot Hunchbacks, my personal favorite being the AC-20, 4G model that I call "Ravager." I did a little innovating with the machine, the description of which will soon be posted in my fan-fiction series "Combine Invaders." One change-up that I made involves the stereotypical twin medium lasers and small laser. I switched the right arm-mounted medium laser with the head-mounted small laser. I have found that this gives me a bit of an edge in a battle of attrition. When I lose my AC-20, I also lose whatever is mounted in the arm. So, rather than lose a medium laser with it, I now only lose the sacrificial small laser. It leaves me with two medium lasers to continue the fight. This may sound petty, but I've actually gone on to kill Mechs with just the two lasers. Granted, a bit of luck was involved and some incredibly aggressive piloting, but it works.
My chief reason for retaining the small laser at all was my unwillingness to compromise my armor, heat sinks, or ammunition that I wanted to equip. As a result, the small laser was the only item I could fit on the Mech once I had the leftover tonnage available to me.
The other two Hunches I own are the 4H and the 4P models. I will post their full specs later, but for now I'll give you a quick rundown of my favored armaments.
For the 4H (I call it "Punisher), I keep an LBX AC-10 mounted on it with extra ammo. A medium pulse laser, AMS system, and a small laser round out the weapons complement. I'm not a big fan of this Mech and am constantly tweaking it, but can't seem to settle on a set-up that I like.
The 4P (Sizzler) is an interesting beast. It's beam version of the Hunchback family, and was a bit difficult for me to adapt to my liking. I tried large pulse lasers and PPCs and such, but nothing seemed right. Finally, I strapped on a large laser in either arm, and an ER large laser in the right torso. A small laser fits in the head. I really like this arsenal and have had a large amount of success with it. The full breakdown of its specs will be posted later.
My favorite maps for my Hunchbacks are River City, Forest Colony, Forest Colony Snow, Caustic Valley, Canyons, and the Tourmaline Desert. I get a nice range of shots on those maps with a slant towards close range ones.
I am also the recent and proud owner of a QKD-5K, which I have named "Gipsy Danger" (Yes, I'm a HUGE Pacific Rim fan!). It's still in its shakedown stage, so I haven't changed anything on it yet. Am definitely enjoying it though.
My favorite maps for it so far are River City, both Forest Colonies, Tourmaline, Canyons, and Alpine. I have a lot of close range opportunities on these maps, which favors my arsenal. My chief delight in Alpine is the opportunity to jet up the cliffs and ambush enemy Mechs.
See you in battle!

Greetings fellow MechWarriors! This is Nightmare1 bringing you an update from the War Hounds Merc Corps. We have continued to be active as a single lance, but would like to expand to two lances soon. Also, one of our members recently had to sign off for an indeterminate amount of time, leaving us a man short. If there is anyone present on the forums who is looking for lance mates or a corps to join, then feel free to message me or to reply here. We do have a few stipulations that are listed below:
Sportsmanship: MWO is a game, not life. It is not worth losing one's temper over it or behaving in an unseemly or rude manner. Anyone who cannot conduct his/herself with appropriate sportsmanship will be removed from the Corps. Win or lose, we strive to show good sportsmanship towards everyone so that the game is a pleasurable experience for all.
Foul Language: Corps members will refrain from using any language that may be deemed offensive or slanderous. Jesting, ribbing, and competitive insults are to be expected in this game, but must never "cross the line," contain swear words, or be intentionally or personally hurtful. Witty rhetoric is encouraged, but unsportsmanlike language is prohibited.
Scheduling: Life, school, family, real friends, work...these are all more important than MWO. It is the Corps' goal to accommodate our members as much as possible. To this end, we will often schedule our play times so that it interferes with daily schedules as little as possible and so that the maximum number of members can play together.
Age: Our current members are all college students, and as such would prefer applicants to be about the same age for homogenous purposes.
Children: Corps members will remember that children may be playing with or against them at any given time. Any behavior that may be deemed offensive or inappropriate with respect to children and families will result in that player being removed from the Corps.
And that's about it! Just a few simple rules to ensure that everyone has a good time. We are not sticklers about Mech types and favor an "anything goes" kind of an approach. I look forward to hearing from some of you soon!

Hello everyone! This is Nightmare1 bringing you another update on the War Hounds Merc Corps. We have officially joined with Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade and are now a subsidiary unit within the Brigade itself. We are still recruiting, however, potential recruits must go through the Jin-Roh recruitment process prior to applying to War Hounds.
Here is Jin-Roh's website: http://jin-roh.enjin.com/
Here is the forum link: http://mwomercs.com/...e-wolf-brigade/
War Hounds remains a casual unit with an emphasis on camaraderie and sportsmanship. Though competitive, we strive to ensure a fun gaming experience for all involved. After all, if a game is not fun, then why play it?
War Hounds also welcomes new players and is happy to help train them as they learn the ropes of the game. We offer support and friendly feedback, and actively encourage greater player involvement.
If anyone is interested in joining War Hounds, then submit an application through the Jin-Roh website with the tag "War Hounds Recruitment" under the section "Briefly tell us a little about yourself." If approved by Jin-Roh, then War Hounds will consider it.
As always, look for us on the Battlefield!

Here are the loadouts for my three Hunchbacks. All loadouts are unadjusted for Pilot or Mech skill trees. All loadouts have standard structures.
The first is the HBK-4G. I call it Hunchback classic because it was my first 'Mech in MWO and remains my favorite by far. My pet name for it is "Ravager." Here's the loadout:
Speed: 64.8 kph
Heat Efficiency: 1.5
Armor: 320 points of Ferro Fibrous
Firepower: 33
Head: Medium laser
R. Arm: Small laser
R. Torso: AC-20 plus two ammo units
C. Torso: STD Engine 200
L. Torso: 4 Double Heat Sinks
L. Arm: Medium laser and a Double Heat Sink
R. Leg: 1 AC-20 ammo unit
L. Leg: N/A
Modules:
Cool Shot 9x9
UAV
Airstrike
Next is my HBK-4H. I seem incapable of settling on a build for this one and am constantly gutting and restructuring it. I call it "Punisher."
Speed: 66.4 kph
Heat Efficiency: 1.49
Armor: 338 points of Ferro Fibrous
Firepower: 31
Head: Medium laser
R. Arm: Medium laser
R. Torso: AC-20 plus two ammo units
C. Torso: STD Engine 205
L. Torso: 3 Double Heat Sinks

R. Leg: 1 AC-20 ammo unit
L. Leg: N/A
Modules:
Cool Shot 6
Cool Shot 9x9
UAV
Finally, there is my HBK-4P, which I call "Sizzler." One of the most interesting Mechs I've ever piloted, it is one of my all-time favorites, although I am constantly experimenting with the build.
Speed: 64.8 kph
Heat Efficiency: 1.18
Armor: 338 points of Ferro Fibrous
Firepower: 37
Head: Medium laser
R. Arm: Large laser

BerserX officially reporting in for the War Hounds Lance.
I'm an aggressive player. MWO's a game to me, but it's a game worth winning. I pilot a Jagermech with an AC10 and and AC20. Overall it's a solid 'mech, but I have chronic challenges with not taking on multiple targets. My philosophy is simple: tie up as many bogies as you can to keep the heat off your buddies long enough for them to do their damage. My armament facilitates this, and, coupled with my fighting style, has on occasion enabled me to keep up to four 'mechs at a time busy (oftentimes effectively holding the backdoor of my company's lines long enough for reinforcements to arrive).
I am a solid team player, and hate running solo. I fight at my best when I running cover for an ally, am fighting to the last man against superior odds, or am leading a spearhead attack through the enemy's side. Look forward to fighting alongside you (or smashing you) in battle!
