Flame Builds Post Patch

Since patch and specifically because of the changes to the gauss rifle my Flame just doesn't seem to be doing as well. I still like the gauss in sniper situations but using it on a striker/flanker build just gets me into trouble.
Have the rest of you Flame pilots who were using the 4ML + GR build had to change your builds to something else? And if so what are your builds?

FLAME
Basic idea is to harass with the large lasers while moving at max speed and working to flank. The uac5 is for when you've got a good shot on someone who isn't actively trying to blow out your CT. Combined with the lasers, you're an attrition (dps) mech, moving fast enough to flank, while dealing sustained damage. The range on this variant allows you a lot of opportunities to get some shots in without exposing yourself to short range stuff.

I have run the 2ER and AC10 build with pretty good success. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c5fa7c4705d3194
But honestly, the Gauss is still the best and the one I've been running the most. It takes a lot of practice, and I still haven't mastered the mechanics yet, but I feel once I do master it, it will be dominant in this new meta.

4x ML and an AC10
tactic would be to get into range pick a weak spot on target mech hit it with the AC10 and follow up with the 4 med lasers at the same target point.
UAC05 is a great weapon but you will end up just spraying damage everywhere rather than doing surgery with focused damage. And Jams are a pain even after the buff, yesterday I had one jame after one shot 3 times in a row.
Literally 1 shot, jam, 1shot, jam, 1shot, jam, 2 shots, jam, 3 shots, jam, 2 shots, jam game over.
I mean by that stage id basically lost
Gauss sucks now, just don't fit it. if everyone stops fitting it then they should change it back.

Part of the extra weight does make me sacrifice the AC10 in favor of the LB10 because I like to have 3 tons of ammo with these weapons.

You're probably right that I should just stick to this and practice since the gauss is a very powerful and heat free weapon. Definitely a lot of advantages.

Just my opinion though. I like to keep the dragon to 350+ meters, preferably 400+. My opponents stand a better chance of finding a closer victim, or won't have the ranged firepower to affect me as much.

Honestly, using the gauss on the Flame was the easiest adjustment out of all my gauss mechs. The fact that it is the only long range weapon mounted high on the shoulder, I dunno, just seemed intuitive.

I guess you just stay farther from the brawl while taking potshots at targets and using the MLas only for defense?

Gauss Rifle
2 large lasers
3 tons of gauss ammo
1 heatsink
300xl engine
Get up in people's face and let loose like Devestatin' Dave.
People will be so off balance from your close range gauss shots destroying both the meta and their world view that they won't be able to stop you from slotting all sorts of floppies.

Well the first part of the question relates to people who use a specific build and if they need to modify their builds given the changes to a specific weapon. So, sure I'm also asking for builds but its kind of secondary.

This would probably be a lot of fun. Just slower than how I usually run the Flame.

I'll brawl with it and snipe. It's more about getting as much damage in before they can react. Get an alpha off, duck for cover or stay on their flank, rinse repeat.
I just don't like taking mechs that can't reach out and touch someone for decent damage. The gauss keeps it versatile.
