I was told that it is all in the name.
A named Mech is a Hero
A (C) in the name is a Champ
Champs give 10% on exp
Hero 30%c-bills
Did I get that right?
So there is no Hero Atlas ie: AS7-RS(C)

That is correct.

The color of the box in Mechlab is also a different shade. One is a little darker tone than the other. Also Heros cost more MC than Champion mechs.
Champion mechs are really just a custom, better loadout for a preexisting CB variant, so there is really nothing radically different about them. Hero mechs have custom paintjobs and a different hardpoint layout which can usually do something a little different from the other variants, but nothing game-changing.
And of course, you are right on the bonuses.

The reason there is no Hero Atlas is because the original founders package came with an assortment of founders mechs (Jenner, Hunchback, Catapult and Atlas) which are essentially champion mechs with quirky designs (for example the founders Catapult has a slightly different nose cone, and the founders Atlas has an eye patch!)
So as the founders got them as a reward for buying into the game at that early stage they have (so far) been kept as an exclusive perk and no Hero variants have been released (with the exception of Sarah's Jenner, which was for charity anyway so no-one minded).
I believe its planned that we will eventually see some but no time soon.

Also Sarah's Jenner JR&-D(s) gives a 20% XP bonus I think so is also a kind of Champ mech.

Champion Mechs are not Hero Mechs.
Champion Mechs are standard variants with an XP bonus an less terrible starting equipment, and a low MC cost comparable to standard c-bill mech MC costs.
Hero Mechs are unique variants not available by c-bill purchase, with a 30% bonus to earned c-bills in matches and unique (colorable, but otherwise unchangable) paint patterns.
They're very different animals.
