You must be low ELO against noobs

And you only had ONE point of armour on your rear. And you use an xl engine..
With this build you're burning through cbills with coolshots and you're taking a huge gamble, hoping nobody ever hits your rear.
Not what I would consider a good build.

Long range weapons can work well with a fire delay, a sniper's weapon can not.

Postulate all you want. It works.
It might also surprise you to know that real life sniper weapons have fire delay as well. It's called breath and trigger control. If you just jam the trigger, you flinch your shot and miss. You calmly, and slowly, squeeze while ensuring as little movement as possible to disrupt the shot.
So it seems even in reality a delay is preferred.

No no. don't get me wrong, The delay is a good mechanic for the minimum range. I like it for that! It fits. For a weapon that is being billed as a sniper weapon... it is dumb as dirt! So what is a Gauss? A Sniper's weapon or a long range weapon? One should not have a fire delay one should!
No a sniper's weapon does not. If you are saying it does then so does the M-16. Don't confuse the BRASS acronym for a fire delay once you pull the trigger. They are not the same thing.

Personally the delay lets me see if it's even worth taking the shot a lot of the time. I can save the ammo if I think I'm just going to hit an arm or something. The high projectile speed more than makes up for the delay in one click damage. The only thing I have to do is mentally separate the Gauss rifle from other weapons in the same range bracket, and it works just as well if not better than it used to for sniping.
Firing an M16 and a sniper rifle are two different methods that only superficially look the same. Sniping at 1200m is about fine tuned timing and control and knowing your weapon, firing an AR at 600m is about fundamentals. There -is- a delay and that delay is significant unless you're willing to accept misses.

I've fired both, the delay you are trying to make charging would be likened to using a matchlock vs an assault rifle. Of these two which would be the better sniper weapon??? There is no delay once you pull the trigger.
