Firstly I play TT for a more then decade, so im huge fan.
And I just wanted to add my opinion.
The only way to save this product, is to throw out the whole mechlab concept.
I know it looks radical and all, but after real consideration and thinking is the only solution.

I say make a game model just like in Rise of Flight.
Give us 4 trial mechs, rest we will be happy to just bay.

Everything other can be adjusted later, all bad ballance, adding melee and stuff, whatever. But the main concept of this must be changed. And start to ballance things around this. The real and only way to get rid of this mess.

I know probably that not going to happen and im quiet sad be couse of this. But I had to express my impression.

Never going to happen. The Mechlab is what makes Mechwarrio Mechwarrior in most players' eyes.

It is important to note, however, that the best MW title to date (Living Legends) is the one that did *not* have a mechlab.

The mechlab is what makes a Mechwarrior game a Mechwarrior game, throwing out the mechlab is basically turning it into what Hawken is, with even less customization. The mechlab and the component based damage is the trademark of the series and is arguably the biggest reason why its not just another COD style game with some fancy paint. It can also probably be argued the heat system and the mech simulator aspects (torso and legs move independently, arm's can be used interdependently of torso) are the other big trademarks, though I suppose its more debatable. Either way I disagree 100%, they day they remove mechlab is the day I quit, as many others probably will. Why dumb this game down? The variety of customization available is part of what gives it such deep tactical and strategic gameplay.

You can have mechlab but for other things to do in it. Some customization, ammo, cockpit, camo. Mechlab is not making this game. Mechs and Battletech universe is. Mechlab is just dumping this game in to a one big nasty mess. Dumping down competitive play, balance, and overall gameplay experience.

But I should move to metagame place.

What makes battletech is not one singular thing, the tonnage systems, customization, the mechs, the universe all play a part. The customization was there in TT, removing that is removing an integral part of battletech. You might be ok with another mechassualt/Hawken game. I however, am not, and a large percentage of the player base, again, would probably say similar. Customization is what made TT as good as it was imo.

You can design new mechs, but not this blasphemy.

Without the mechlab MWO would probably die fast.
I personally don't see the attraction of the mechlab, and all my mechs are basically stock and only customized where needed to be useable in this game (i.e. DHS, armour relocated, etc.)
To me the mechlab, isn't Battletech but something just added to the main game, which is stock mechs.

But many people seem to think it's important, so it's not going anywhere (but there should be a stock/newbie queue ( http://mwomercs.com/...cknewbie-queue/ ) :)

I do think it's quite funny that PGI claims to want heat to be important yet introduces a way for players to create mechs that are as heat neutral as they like

OP, I am curious, how long have you been playing MWO? As your forum profile says you started 4 days ago.
