Well, the title says it all. What mech are you going to start with, including founder mechs, if you're getting the founder's package. And why did you choose that mech? For me, I think I'm going to get the Atlas for my founder's mech, although the Hunchback is a very close second. For my starter mech, I'm going for the Centurion CN9-A. I really like the Centurion, it has a good mix of weaponry, with the LRM10, AC10, and 2 ML's. Plus, you can customize it. The Centurion has always been a favorite mech of mine. As for the Founder's mech, I'm leaning towards the Atlas, just for the sheer brawling factor, and to have an Assault Mech for my bay. I might go Hunchback, but my reasoning for the Atlas is cost. It'll be pretty expensive to buy, and I don't want it as my only mech at the start of the game. I wish I had a better handle on the economics of the game, but I'm going under the assumption (from WoT) that the bigger the mech, the more it's going to cost to repair/rearm after battle, with lights being the smallest earners and cheapest to repair, and Assaults making the most, but being very costly to repair. I could be totally wrong, but I don't think it'll change my initial choices. I may go Hunchback for my founder's mech, but I'm not sure yet. So what are your choices going to be?

I hope I'll be able to start with a Dragon, since it's been my favorite for awhile. With upgrades, it's fast, well-armored, and can be fitted with a variety of weapons. Even though it's a heavy, it plays like a 60-ton medium. But until then, I'll have to go with a founder's Hunchback, mostly to practice piloting mediums. That, plus the fact that the Hunchback has an AC/20. Lots of power.

I'm waiting to see what the founder mech variants will be and then choosing which one I want which will influence which free mech I pick.

I want my first 2 mech's to be different weight classes to start.

Same here! The Centurion is my favorite IS medium chassis since a long time and it will be my startermech, because it is a cheap but useful mech. But if the devs release the Firestarter or the Champion, i would go with one of these.

I am waiting to see what happens at launch before I decide, but have similar views to yourself in regards to the Atlas and WOT system

I am looking at a modified Jenner JR7-D. The modifications involve removing the SRM launcher and moving the lasers into the torso.

Well If a Battlemaster  is not available then I am looking at the Awesome since I saw the art for one. I would go with a Zeus seeing as I would probable start in a Steiner Scouting unit! ;)

I'm thinking that I will buy the Founder's package, and I'm torn between the Hunchback (AC/20 that goes faster than 50kph, enough said), and the Jenner (a fast striker, more or less the way I play the tabletop). For my first normal mech, I want the Stalker (it's a little lumbering, but it's just FUN).

Would choose a Shadow Cat or the Archangel, but i guess those wont be in the starters. From the ones, which are listed in the wiki - probably Awesome due to the high fire power and rather decent armor.

Still haven't made up my mind as to what mech I will be piloting, its close between the Dragon and Cicada, with the Hunchback and Catapract as my other options. Of those only the hunchback is offered as a founder's selection, I will most likely choose the Atlas as my founders mech though and purchase whatever other mech I choose to pilot as my main chassis in the store. By picking the Atlas I think I will end up with a wide selection of weapons that I can move over to my main chassis saveing me creds in the long run.

I will no doubt upgrade to extended range weaponry as soon as plausible, and if necessary arrange my mech so that it is not ammo dependent. All depends on my final selection of chassis. I favor speed over raw firepower, however I enjoy the arrangment of the catapract's and hunchback's (particularly the swayback) weapon loadouts for raw power. Always been a dragon fan though, and really enjoy the speed the cicada boasts.

Still a toss up between Jenner & a Catapult.... The Jenner is what my heart says, but my brain is telling me Catapult because it has been a LONG time since I was in a mech and likely my speed skills in a Jenner aren't what they used to be.

Catapult, range, firepower, likely going to be the winner.

If I can choose any mech?

Probably a Stalker.

If I can only choose from the founder mechs?
Probably an Atlas, just cause it's the most expensive. Would rather get a 10m mech for free than a 3m mech.

You may need to do a little more research on MW:O and battletech timelines. No Clan 'mechs are going to debut at launch (or within the first year until the Clan Invasion) so no Shadow Cats, and also the Archangel if I'm not mistaken in a Word Of Blake 'mech, so that design is very far off into the future. Most likely won't ever see that 'mech in the game.

Edit: To keep on topic, Most likely a Catapult K-2 or customized Cataphract. Love the direct fire oriented 'mechs in the 65-70 ton range. Plus the Cataphract reminds me of a crappier version of the Avatar. Very similar load out and appearance between the AV1-O, minus the Missiles. But we won't be seeing IS Omni's for a long while.
