I know it takes just as many staff hours to make a light mech as it does to make an assault, and you sell assaults for more than 3 times as much... but there needs to be some equity here.

I like the Death's Knell, but I needs me some jump jets.

Between the Founders' Jenner and the Sarah's 'Mech Jenner, it will likely be quite some time before there is a "proper" Hero Jenner.

With regard to Hero Spiders, some possibilities include:

• Gwndolyn Snedicor - member of the Eridani Light Horse's 151st Dark Horse regiment, holding the rank of Lieutenant as of 3039 (TRO 3039, pg. 106)
  
• Rhonda Stillston - CO of the Addicks Draconis March Militia's Recon Company, holding the rank of Captain as of 3039 (TRO 3039, pg. 106)
  
• Niko Vester - member of the Ninth (and later, Fourth) Pesht Regulars, holding the rank of Chu-i (equivalent to "Lieutenant") as of 3050 (TRO 3050U, pg. 20)

Thoughts?

I support a hero spider, how would the variant be different from current variants without being OP and thus P2W?

Some things I ruled out: missiles, more hard points, and a higher engine cap.

So I came up with this

RA: 1 energy
RT: AMS
CT: 2 ballistic

LT:
LA: 1 energy

8 Jumpjets

That is a good mix of what other spiders have to offer, with a more different but not over powered hardpoint layout. No more jump jets than the similarly armed K and V variants.

I would disagree that missiles should necessarily be ruled out.
Note how the X-5 (the Cicada Hero 'Mech) is the only variant of the Cicada chassis in MWO to mount missiles, and how none of the canonical Cicada variants currently (as of this writing) listed on Sarna.net mount missiles.

As an alternative (and slight modification) to HammerSwarm's proposal:

• Armor: Standard (7.00 tons, 210 armor pts)
  
• Armament: x1 Medium Laser (CT), x2 Machine Guns (LA, RA; 1 ton of ammunition in LT), x1 SRM-2 (CT; 1 ton of ammunition in RT)
  
• Hardpoint layout: x1 Energy (CT), x2 Ballistic (LA, RA), x1 Missile (CT), x1 AMS (LT)
  
• Arm Pitch: 20 degrees
  
• Arm Twist: 30 degrees
  
• Torso Pitch: 30 degrees
  
• Torso Twist: 120 degrees
  
• Module Slots: 2

NOTE 1: The missile hardpoint is horizontally-centered relative to the torso and is limited to two tubes (arranged horizontally below the (horizontally-centered relative to the torso) laser) and is protected by an upward-swinging missile door system similar to that seen on the Catapult.

NOTE 2: The torso pitch and twist values have each been increased by 10 degrees, while the arm pitch and twist values have each been decreased by 10 degrees.

Call me a psycho, but I am entertaining the idea of a spider with a single laser hardpoint in the torso, and 16-20 jump jet slots, just for the laughs.

Until they fix the Spider's Hitbox everyone of them is a "Hero" Mech

I want the Spider-5V but with the Energy Hardpoints moved to the the arms.

I have a hero Jenner... cheapest of the hero mechs even AND it was honestly the only one which could rightly try and wear the name "hero".

I do have Sarah's Jenner, and I love it. But it's a champion mech, or at least it has the 10% perk that champion mechs do. Really it's a unique type, (S), which I assume is for Sarah.

Hero mechs have the 30% C-bill bonus. Founders mechs have a 25% C-bill bonus, but they are obviously no longer for sale.
