Can an Ethernet equipment on an old motherboard cause trouble in connecting to a game such as MWO??

If it isn't interfering with your more general capability to connect to and enjoy other Internet-based services, then it is unlikely that your network card would have a specific issue with MWO. Not impossible, but unlikely. The devs have been tweaking the netcode recently, which has increased the rate of UDP. I have seen problems with my security software, but not with my network card.

Describe you issue more specificly . Your connection can certanly be blocking traffic for online play .

How old is your computer ? MWO is relativly heavy game .

90% of the time when a game dosen't start at all it means you don't have proper hardware for it . (old comuter)

It certainly could cause a problem. Generally speaking, the jack on the motherboard or the wire itself (frequently the end) is the issue. This is almost always caused by people tripping on the cord or similar physical sources.

I've seen situations where Lightning Strikes have fried the Ethernet hardware itself but the situation is very specific. When the wire runs through a wall jack straight into the computer.

Example: Internet > Modem > Router > Wall Jack > Wall Jack (different room) > Computer

Without having surge protection either at the Network Concentrator (in front of the modem) or at the last Wall Jack.

The test for this problem is very straightforward.

From a Command Console type "ping -t [IP ADDRESS of Gateway]"
You can get the Gateway IP Address by typing ipconfig in the Command Console
Spoiler

Now wiggle the cable! If you get any ping failures at all you have a problem with either the cable itself or the jack.

well, i do have an older board, a gigabyte GA-890AX-UD3 and a Athlon 64 x4 Processor. So I'm guessing that's wh i'm not able to connect to the game.

I also want to apologize for the way i've been behaving due to this issue.

unlikely, but you should be able to buy a bargain bin networking pci card for 5-$10 and see if that is the problem.

There is still a bug with certain AMD processors and Avast antivirus that will not let the game connect. Right no the only cure is to uninstall Avast.

The post in the support forums suggests that you can simply uncheck the "hardware virtualisation" in the Avast settings to fix this - no need for uninstalling.

I doubt it is a motherboard problem. Gigabyte makes fantastic motherboards. I will probably easily get another 2-3 years of use out of my 880GA-UD3. As it stands MWO is not even that CPU intensive I am easily able to run my TV tuner application in the background with very little FPS drop.
