I posted a big, long wall of text here: http://www.reddit.co...ried_to_answer/

So instead of retyping it, I'll just tldr here.

Why do players alpha? No reason not to as long as you stay under 100% heat.

PGI: "How do we punish players for alpha striking?" Push them over 100% heat with Ghost Heat (insert personal opinions here).

What should have been asked: "How do we encourage players to stay under 100% heat?"

Answer: Incremental Heat Penalties.

It's not obfuscated or obtuse as Ghost Heat is, and would encourage the 6 PPC Stalker to not fire all the PPCs at once. Go over a certain heat threshold under 100% and bad things start happening. Suggestions include:

Decreased Top Speed
Decreased Acceleration
Decreased Deceleration
Decreased Torso twist range and speed
Decreased Arm Twist range and speed
Decrease turning speed
Increase Weapon Cooldown time
Increase Weapon lock time
Increase target lock time
Weapon damage and destruction
Heat sink and component damage and destruction
Ammo explosion chance increase (add warning and ammo dumping)
Pilot blackout chance (add pilot vital signs to HUD)

That's a few, but worth looking into.

Or just lower the heat cap so you overheat and shut down sooner.
