I know we don't have knock-downs back, and crouch is only on the Dev's to-do list. But after listening to the Ekman interview on NGNG, and the issue of getting griefed with knock-downs (once knock-downs are re-implemented), I realized, in real life one would go into a sprawl to stop from getting knocked-down / tackled.
As it seems like way too much animation to do a sprawl for each mech, at different angles, I think simply going into crouch should successfully stop a knock-down. Realistically, it lowers the center of gravity of the mech, and sort of "braces" it for impact.
So, if and when crouch gets implemented (mentioned as likely a non-moving crouch, a la Living Legends), I suggest it would do double duty to block a knock-down attempt.
Any thoughts?

Its entirely logical, wrestlers do it all the time.

I'm surprised there are only 6 votes. I suspect the Nay vote may be a Dragon Bowler.

Great idea! Also, make the cockpit shake a little less when getting hit by big weapons while crouching. The downside for crouching is obviously being unable to move unless standing up again. And unable to turn other than the torso.

Crouch would not help much a spider being charged by dragon. But kicking to the face would be nice.

What would happen when an Atlas runs into a crouched Raven?
Would he just kind of stop, losing all momentum because the raven is a little lower to the floor?
Or would he trip over the little Raven and be knocked down himself?
Either way, not sure I like it. Tbh I started playing after knockdowns were removed so I've only seen them in trolling YouTube videos. I'd like them back in but know they will be a ******* to balance.

Most of the knock-down discussions have suggested a mechanic / calculation based on mech mass. I'd suggest crouch simply adjusts the calculation to reduce the chances of a knock-down - not necessarily block it 100%.
So in the case of an Atlas running into a crouched Raven, the Raven should get knocked down. Though, if you're in a Raven and get rammed by an Atlas, you're doing something wrong.
