Not just for AAA title but pretty much any MMOG launch here in the last 5 years or so.
This is the currently trend in Asia, and as more Asian developer and publisher (Perfect World, Nexon, NHN, etc) move into the west it will become the norm there soon.
Dragon Nest Online start service with just PvE and it wasn't until 4 or 6 months later they introduce PvP.
MapleStory and Ragnarok Online 1 started as a pure PvE grinder, and it took them several years of content to make them what they are today, among the longest surviving MMOG.
Tera Online didn't even have Guild system upon launch and Politic system only become available after Guild system went live.
Phantasy Star Online 2 Japan have been in service for over a year, yet PvP is still coming soon, even though the community have been asking for the feature since launch.
Arche Age went through 2 years of Close Beta.
Collecting money while still in Beta have been an accepted fact of MMOG over here for at least 7 or 8 years.
If big development house are acting like this is the norm, you better be expecting the smaller one to pick the habit.
Asian PvE grinder mmos with persistant worlds that are solely focused on trying to slow down player progression as much as possible relate to MWO in what way exactly now?
If you want to compare games you should compare MWO to warthunder wich was also recently "released" and allready has more features then MWO.. and MWO had one year ahead of warthunder.
Also it has been ages since the asian market had ANY influence on the western market for games. All those names you listed above are niche games in the west at best and their presence in gaming culture is minimal. No one uses asian grinders as an example in any discussion.. well except for you ofcourse.
In fact Asian developers have a real hard time even selling their products anymore on western markets. Thats why even thought vocal minorities want their games the units sold numbers do not make up for the costs of translating entire games. Take project rainfall for example. Might look impressive but in the great scheme of things? Hardly worthwhile the effort of translating the games.
Or take squenix.. once a giant of the worldwide games industry, it is now bleeding money left and right and is only a shadow of its former self.
Seriously.. asian grinder mmos?
They have absolutely nothing to do with MWO and sure as hell are no excuse for the sorry state this game is in. How you even come up with the connection is mind boogling.
Also all of them where PvE centric games and ADVERTISED AS SUCH.. and still had more basic features at their launch then MWO has managed to even come up with in theory in a whole year.
Asian games do not influence the western market anymore in any meaningfull way. No Western Dev takes them as an example of how to conduct busines.
Your idea that the asian publishers will somehow overtake the western game market is amusing at best because THEY HAD THAT POSITION IN THE 90S AND LOST TO THE WESTERN PUBLISHERS.
Seriously.. super nintendo, N64 and PS one where the age of the asian giants... nowadays most people wont even touch an asian game with a 10 foot pole.
