It gets an XP bonus too, which is kind of nice as it helps with the grind.

It's not heroic... (C) is for Champion. Which is a normal variant with a bonus.

which is useful only until, yep you finish that mech off. IF they had a bonus to GXP, then I might consider some worth it, though the Champ Centy is more like a "Chump" Centy. Can't believe how many people still buy into the Zombie nonsense over building a mech that can actually lay down good solid pain from the get go.

And Chumpion Mechs are just that. Though I will admit, the actual basic weapon layout on it is solid (When it was the trial mech I ran it and did dang good, which is odd since I hate the Atlas, usually). That said, dunno why someone would pay extra for them. (Still wondering how and why I bought a Champion Hunchy, TBH)

Doesn't the XP boost technically indirectly boost GXP? Even so, it's still a pretty tiny increase.

not 100% but I don't think it does. And liek you say...5% big whoop. Give it a 15% that applies to GXP too, and I could see some place for them. Add a special Champion Paint scheme, then even moreso.

It's called a champion mech because if you manage to do well in a lurm/gauss Atlas, you're a ******* champion :)

All Champion mechs provide 10% bonus XP.

But then again if you lose, you get 100XP, 110XP after the 10% bonus, and literally 0 GXP more than usual.

Thanks PGI!

As with all other Champion mechs, its not heroic but rather a steaming waste of real money. You get a tiny (5%) xp bonus and a somewhat rearranged hardpoint location (at least with some (c) mechs) for the price of a hero mech. I can understand people buying hero mechs, but certainly not champion mechs.

Champion Mechs are ideal for new users who want to get into a non-terrible build right away.

The Champion builds are not perfect, or highly tuned, but they are at least usable - way, way better than stock loadouts/regular trials.

I wouldn't really recommend anyone buy them, personally, but they're awesome to have in the Trail list so you can play something that doesn't suck.

Say what you will about the RS(C) - there are better builds - but it's build is entirely serviceable.

Anyways, to the OP: The difference is the XP bonus, if you exclude build details. It may have more free slots, but that's just because of it's build - if you stripped the RS(C) down to bare metal, it would be identical to an RS (excluding the xp bonus, anyways).

Oh, and yes, all XP bonuses (including the 2X bonus for your first win per match per day) affects GXP as well.

Well... it's a champion mech not a hero mech...

And yeah, it's the XP bonus. If you don't want it... Then just use the regular RS?

Grind it for cbills. The RS is a badass mech though. Even without the XP bonus :)

truth to tell I feel it's beyond serviceable. I might move a few things around, but seriously, I regularly went full on BMF with the thing. So, whatever anyone else thinks, apparently it works like gang busters for me.

I got the Champion Jenner F, but then I love Jenners, especially the F. Double GXP conversion weekends make it pretty worthwhile since I'm going to play it anyway, and I've come to loathe grinding my other mechs up to Elite.

I bought the Jenner F© for a couple reasons: 1. I wanted the XL engine in it and was too lazy to grind the C-Bills for it (have numerous mechs that use XL300s in their builds but only a limited amount of them in my stock.) 2. I was making a push to at least Elite my Jenners anyways since I had my Founders and Sarahs Jenners (both D variants) desiring to be used, and figured a bit of an XP boost on the grind of one of them wouldn't hurt. Found out the F was a pretty fun variant once I swapped its loadout for some small pulses.

Though I turned around and just bought a K, used GXP to clear its basics, then immediately sold it...

That said, I really don't think any of the larger champion mechs are worth the cost. The Jenner's a Light, it's cheap anyways. Just slightly more than a premium paint scheme. Only justification I felt in buying it.

Yeah, depends on the equipment of the respective Champion Mech.
The Atlas is terrible.
But i bought the Jenner and Dragon Champion. i was in need for both variants to elite the respective chassis; also they were equipped with DHS and advanced materials (spared me the expense for upgrades) as well as a 300XL, which was put in good use in this and other mechs.
