So, since we don't know what if any cosmetic variations to expect with next month;s upcoming Shadow Hawks, I took it upon myself to rough sketch out a version of my favorite variant, the 2D2, based off Alex's art with a few canon/fluff mods.

Bear in mind I have NO art supplies or my usual rig nearby, so this is in the white, just the rough basis that will eventually (hopefully) be a finished and colored piece.

This is built to TT specs, but I can confirm that it is also totally buildable in MWO, though a few minor changes (like dropping the CASE my TT version carries) is needed to optimize for each medium.

It uses Endo Steel Chassis, a 275XL with 11 DHS, and 11 tons of armor. It carries 3 JJ and is armed with: 2x Medium Lasers (RA/LA), 3x SRM4 (H/CT/RT) w/ 3 tons of ammo and a UAC5 with 4 tons of ammo.

Cosmetic changes, aside from weaponry is slightly different shoulder baffles, with an out-sloping plate at the top, a little bit more contour to the cockpit, as that is a feature on Alex's sketch I jsut don't 100% love, and the arms. The changes to the arms are because of fluff. The Cataphract 1X's left arm is supposed to be taken directly from a ShadowHawk, with the hand actuator turned around. Since I always liked that fluff, and since the Cataphract art preceded the SHD into the game, I decided to do the arms from the shoulders down based directly off the Cataphract, with lasers underslung and traditional fists.

Thoughts so far?

it's a good start. It's a little messy, but hey, it's a sketch. :) I'd like to see this after it's cleaned up. It looks to have the two streak-srm2s and the 2 medium lasers, but is that an ultra-ac5 that I see on his shoulder? Maybe a remember wrong, but isn't it just a regular AC5 that this variant was built with?

Why did you drop the LRM? It really helped to round out the mech.

cuz an LRM 5 seemed like a minor concession for the close combat capabilities, which is more what I geared this version toward.
