UAC5 is so overpowered it's not funny. All cannons must have RECOIL, shells scatter, ballistic trajectory...etc, right now cannons (especially UAC5) are much better than any energy weapons. Again, RECOIL. For example, recoil on Jagermech must be stronger than on Atlas, because on Atlas cannons located near the center of mass.

I take it you were whacked by a Jager toting UAC5's?

So LRMs were too powerfull, they got nerfed. After that came the PPC/Gauss era...those got nerfed too. I see that UAC will be next. After that? LRMs will dominate again? so nerf them some more? We will never see the end of it....

UAC/5 while fun should defineately somewhere between the 15% and 25% jam rates they've tried.

But likely it will be some new grotesque mechanic a la gauss rifle.

You also have to pack many tons of highly explosive instant death all over your mech. It's balanced.

If you have a problem with them, shoot the legs. It's where people pack the ammo usually. With an Extra Liability engine, BOOM.

Recoil would fix this... I see nothing wrong with the weapon system other than lack of bullet/velocity drop.

As one person said above, they have an occasional tendency to explode when it. Granted, in MWO it's dropped down to 10%, so it's not as bad as it is in TT. If that's not enough for you what about MASSIVE TONNAGE? 7 tons will get you an LPL, PPC or an ER PPC. Those are the heaviest of Energy weapons. It'll also get you an LRM 15, the 2nd heaviest missile package. Ballistics? An AC/2, the lightest of the Autocannons. Oh, and yeah, you can throw in a pair of MGs.

So, yeah, tell me again why ACs need recoil?

Nope, UACs don't explode by themselves, no weapon does. Only the Gauss when it is destroyed.

Meant the required ammo for them, but it's something they share with Missiles. It's mainly the massive tonnage that is their main draw back.

I ran a couple matches in a 4 UAC5 jager for some silly fun before they get nerfed. Ran them with macros of course, 225 ammo with light front armor and only 1 armor on each rear piece.

Sad thing is the silly fun actually wrecked face haha. I had so little armor, but no one could get more then a shot or two off before being killed. in fact the fastest I was killed was when a teammate accidentally hit me from behind with some FF

MWO does have bullet drop. fire an AC-20 at a target 700m way and look for the drop.

Damage drops off after the nominal range has been exceeded, and so too does the actual projectile- It goes straight out ot it's listed range and then begins to descend.
