so recently i got thinking about the clan mechs and i thought "how could they introduce these so players get the same clan invasion feel at it would feel as a inner sphere mechwarrior."
so i started thinking on cool ways they could introduce clan mechs into the game that would make things a little more surprising and here are my results.
keep in note these ideas are based around if they give clan mechs to players in a founders like package like project Phoenix.
1. unknown launch day:
i think to get that instant invasion feel that inner sphere warriors would have got in the battletech universe the delivery date on the mechs you receive in the package should be unknown (but still reveal month of launch so you know you are getting clan mechs in *enter month here.*) so one day you are having regular games with inner sphere mechs against inner sphere mechs and the next day you log in, join a game, and the next thing you know you are looking at a timberwolf shooting its large lasers and LRM salvos at you.
2. no big update announcement:
on the homepage of the game there should be no big CLAN MECHS RELEASED message as that would take away all the surprise and instead the message should be revealed the day after the clan mech launch. also on the day of the launch there should be some fake patch note (something like "emergency weapon balance patch!") to keep suspicions down about why there is a random update or make it so the clan mech data has been downloaded in a update a few days before launch its just they get use able on the day of the invasion so there is no mysterious unannounced update.
3. clan vs IS on day one:
on day one of the clan mechs only IS mechs should be paired up with IS and clans with clans so that since the enemy teams mech names are already hidden you don't know about the clans invading until you get into combat to find out that a madcat lance is headed towards you or if on another occasion you are playing and you read your scout over team chat "what the hell, i have never seen these mechs before" and then get into combat to get crushed by a clan army. also global chat should be turn off for the one day of clans vs IS so you don't get some ***** on the clan team shout out before the game starts "ERRR MAH GURRDD TESE CLN MEHCS R SOO AUESOME!!!!1"

These are good ideas. I love you're whole approach of making the clan invasion seem mysterious and then hit without warning. Totally awesome! Someone else said in another thread that on the day of the invasion, that everyone at PGI should drop together as a team of clanners and obliterate us players in our innersphere mechs...totally without warning. I think that'd be a good idea.
Also, maybe wait a day or two after the clan invasion, then post an announcement that the outworlds have been attacked by an unknown enemy.
