Ok I have to ask. How the heck are people seeing me so easily and accurately in this NIGHT map where you can't see jack, unless you use the awful heat or night vision modes which don't let you see at a distance anyway? So often, I get on this map and I just get owned from someone across the river, with a gauss rifle to the head. Very reliably, people can not only see me but very QUICKLY and accurately. The only thing I see of them is the red triangle, and blackness under it. What are people doing?

Adjust your gamma, monitor. If still doesnt work, buy a new one.

They're using huge monitors and the advanced zoom module. They may even be adjusting their gamma by map.

I do it with my sensors mark-I, codenamed "Eyeball". Normal vision still has the same range as on the other maps (except Frozen City Day). The darkness doesn't make you invisible.

Before we got the current thermal and night vision modes, I used to run the map on normal mode. Even so, my gamma correction wasn't (and still isn't) changed for this map, I made out targets at about 1.5 klicks. If they were moving it became even easier.

Today, I'm mostly using night vision on the map, as I'm primary playing a brawler and need good sight at short to medium range. If I should ever go back to LRM or Sniper builds, I'll run normal vision again.

As the users above me said: With gamma adjustments there are probably even less problems.

I also have a huge monitor (36") and advanced zoom which I just unlocked today. I haven't tried playing around with gamma at all yet.

LOL @ this gamma mess! :) Are you people so desperate to hit someone that you adjust continuously even your gamma level??? MWAAAA HA HA HA HA! You know why a night/fog/foul-visibility map is made for??? Surely not to test your monitor's gamma performance, believe me! :P Hit "Launch" and have fun. :)

Also Low graphics setting helps in this department. It is one of the biggest issues I have with the game atm. What is the point in playing on Cryengine 3 when I have a PC that can do ultra high, however doing so handicaps me because low spec gives you exceptionally longer LOS capabilities. Running on low also does not change much in the way mechs look overly much either which is kinda disappointing.

The devs have gone out of their way to optimize for low spec systems yet continue to ignore those of us with PCs that can run ultra high. They need to make a lots of optimization passes for those of us with better systems so this advantage is negated.

Impossible. Would mean cut out a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu(are those enough "u"?)ge part of potential users that have not, or can not affoard, or have not any interest in a up-to-date machine. Also Cryengine 3 is becoming a bit old itself these days and if the devs won't focus on some serious development, may be MWO will become old ages before it could be called a "Game". Ceck:

having a properly optimized game engine for both the low and high end does not cut out people. I am simply pointing out they have focused exclusively on the low end while paying very little attention to the higher end, there by making it in everyone's best interest to play on low settings.

It negates the point of even having the higher options as the bottom of the pool has a significant advantage over the higher end. A properly optimized engine gives neither the lower end or the higher end player an advantage. When I say they need to work the higher end better I am simply saying the need to balance it in accord with how the low end functions.

Try it. Set it to highest brightness when playing, if you have glare, adjust your curtains. Clean it too. The game is just fine on the nightmaps.

If you are happy with that, for me it's ok :P. If you get me, I just need to "launch" again and keep on going... ... and without even tuning my gamma... :P

once you are locked I don't need to see you. You will be in the center of the square. FIRE!

If you dont use thermal or night vision you can see the enemy in the horizon.

Now I run the game with factory settings. But few months ago I tried to a costume user.cfg (find somewhere in the forum) and I could see the enemy mech perfectly at the other side of the map at night.

I don't use gamma adjustments because they are annoying, but, guess what, you can see people perfectly at night anyways!

Hint, when you are starting at the drop ship at night, you are silhouetted against the lighter sky background when viewed from a lower vantage point. Even when you are walking amongst the buildings or in the river, you still show up as an outline against ambient light. People just have to have the adv zoom module to see you.

Once they get the first shot on you, the light from their shot impact or your glow damage will mark where you are perfectly, making follow up shots easy.

Now, granted, because you are dark, their reactions to your movements are going to be slower by a fraction of a second, but since you don't see them, you are going to be moving in a predictable manner or possibly standing still, so they can take their sweet time to aim.

Bottom line, if you have the zoom module, people will be visible.
