I dont recall my first mech ever(its likely an AT-AT), but Ive always been drawn to the Marauders in the mechwarrior world (however a jenny pilot by nature{followed by catapult}). My Red Alpha Veritech was one of my favorite childhood toys (most of it is still in storage).
Played a lot of Mech games along the way, a small part of me died the day chrome hounds when offline, Im still looking for a full fledged mech sim(I cringe when people call MW:O a FPS), I plan on building a free standing enclosed sim-pit.
I haz AKM and pile of inherited hunting rifles but, wantz to build piston driven AR.

The almighty internet bragging rights. But only if you can win.
All I can remember is the my first 'Mech was from MW2. I was a little young to remember any more than that, or how to work DOS on a daily basis.

Like this?

But seriously, I'd love to own an AR-15 style in .22 or something like that for target shooting. However at this point I do not have the financial resources to afford a decent gun (damn you layoffs!) and I'm not sure how my family members would react to me owning one.
I too would love to play a full-fledged mech sim with realistic combat and physics. Sim pits? I'm in!
I remember when I was much younger building mechs and fighter planes out of Legos was my favorite after-school activity. Nowadays when I see Lego mechs in the fanart forums I get the urge to buy some of those lego mech kits and take a crack at it again... I've always had a secret urge to try Lego Armored Core/Battletech.

I want to build a 5.56 short piston, not a fan of the .22 unless its by compressed air. The 7.62x39 of the AK has a nice crisp crack!
You can pick up the LEGO Digital Designer (its free{and can spit out lists[of blocks used] and build instructions for your projects}) if you would like to feel like massacring innocent people with your keyboard or other nearby inanimate objects. It used to let you buy kits of your model but thats been removed last year until further notice(but is said to return in some form{at some time}).

As for the rifle, sweet!
I've heard the 7.62 AKs are fun to shoot.
Really? I'll look into it, thanks.

Isnt it? My wife is no fan of guns but a huge fan of Hello Kitty.
Amazingly fun! It kicks up mostly in the front almost no backward force, reacquiring aim is fast and natural. Only scare I have had was a miss feed that almost sliced the cartridge in half.

My first battlemech ever was the Firemoth / Dasher from Mech:2 (stupid trainer...)
My first mech in this game was the Centurion9-A back when the "only useful medium" was the Hunchback-whatever-sp (the one with two little hunches)
My first match in it got down to me and an modified (was almost as fast as me, with me still using the stock engine, and I was later to learn, using one of the meta builds) Atlas.
I would have won to, if the we hadn't timed out.
Ever since then I have had a very clear "screw the meta!" mindset with my builds, much to people like Victor Morson's irritation.

Screw the Meta! I modify my stock builds relatively little and they do just fine. Real pilots don't need a Chainsaw Ilya, Pop Tart Highlander, or Jagerbomb to kick somebody's ***.

IE: it had been the other team cheering for me, and the Atlas was just one hit from dying.

I miss matches like that, the close matches any more just seem to get ugly.

So far the schedule is:
Deep scrub the kitchen.
And it's a doozy of a kitchen - used to be a garage for semis
