Did you guys see the DevLog video where they draw the King Crab? Holy cow, it looks awesome!

I wonder if the claws opening and closing between shots will be included in the game, that would be cool. Perhaps they function like missile port covers and offer a defense boost when closed?

Ive been in great hope of that being the case, as that is the intended function, I cant even begin to tell you how much I want to be able to manually operate them.

Hopefully they'll be able to be set open and closed with the "/" key like missile tubes.

Then I can snap them open and closed while staring allies in the face while typing "BUTTER, GIVE ME BUTTER" in the chat.

You could get a defense boost when closing missile ports?

Well I don't LRM anything so I'm not missing out but I wish I knew this earlier.

Very few mechs use port covers, however they are closed by default, opening to fire and closing shortly. The sort delay from fire request to actual fire time can be removed by opening the ports ahead of time. Its also one of those little things that makes the game special to some mech heads.

I am concerned the Melee animations would be like crappy CoD knife animations. (Always the same regardless of where it hits and what it does).

That is one of the big reasons I am not in favor of adding Melee (currently anyways)

I'm kind of hoping it will take a while to get melee animations. 1. so they will be polished and work smoothly (hopefully). 2. so I won't need to worry about accidentally bumping into a KC and getting my core torn out of my light 'mech.
