They twist their hip joints and lean to literally twist, to look around.
There are some IS 'Mechs built this way too.

Edit: Actually looking at some of these 'Mechs, they appear have a bearings and such in the ankle joint that allow them to pivot along the Z axis while keeping the foot on the ground for easy turns.

One of the guides I found simply labeled them as having "obvious" answers
My autism (light as it is) says there are no obvious answers to those.
According to the description on Amazon - it is a new copy at that.
