Whats that? You didnt build an Apocalypse as soon as you had the scrap metal?

BURN THE HEATHEN!

God I loved that Herc.

The Ogre was my HERC of Choice. I still remember the Loadout.
3 Plasma cannons, 2 AC 100 2 gigawatt 500 lasers Shield pod, turbo pod, Energy pod.

HERCs? Weren't they like the Go-bots to Mechwarrior's Transformers?

Sure, if your Go-Bots can stand up to Transformers and mop the floors with them, its an apt comparison.

While I love both Battletech and Earthsiege, I would bet on Herculean over a 'Mech in a fight. All Herc's come with shield generators on top of a fair bit of armor. I'm almost positive that 'Mechs are packing more armor, but a Herc has far greater firepower and the ability to sustain that fire over long periods. EMP cannons, 100mm gatling cannons, rail guns, lasers ranging from 50 gw up to 150gw, particle beam weaponry. Radiation guns, weird alien thermo-kinetic thingamawoppers, missiles that hit like Thunderbolt 20s, the nightmarish Electron Flux Weapon - a weapon that projects a lightning bolt on steroids, extremely power hungry - and the all-mighty plasma cannon, which is the weapon you turn to when you just want things to go away.

A 'Mech might have an edge in agility and maneuverability, and maybe armor. But I wouldn't ever want to stand still long enough to put the armor to use.

More things can be typed, but dinner isn't going to cook itself.

So... 15 years later do we have Earthseige Online? No? Didn't think so.

Mechwarrior is the superior franchise.

Go play with your Go-bots

*pats Marine on the head*

Yes, because I was comparing the franchise, and not the things within.

Earthsiege does however live on in the Tribes series.

However a lot of their weapons are limited in range. Most of their weapons don't go much farther than 350 meters (Given the limitations of Game Engines back then). BattleMechs would have a much bigger advantage range wise. Also the PPCs have somewhat of a minor EMP ability which would play havoc on HERC shields and electrical components.

Both sides have some significant technological advantages and disadvantages. HERC cockpits are also a much easier target to hit than BattleMechs. Still...I'd love to see an Atlas fight against a Cybrid Diablo or a Dire Wolf against a PitBull

Why not have a PB face off against a Thunder Stallion? Both are quads, and arguably herp-derp.

I think it would be funny to see the arachnid mines chasing around Spiders and Jenners.

You didn't play Starsiege by any chance did you Domo?

Nah I missed that one. I saw Gameplay of it on YouTube but...it felt like it went away from EarthSiege. No torso twisting and such

That was a result of the publisher pushing Dynamix to release the game NOW NOW NOW. I was able to forgive that after a while. The biggest problem I had with that game was the super hardcore nerfs to the ELF, PBW, and the poor plasma cannon. which became a waste of space and weight on any Herc.

Those were some of my favorite childhood games. I need to see if I can jurry-rig them to work again. I still have all the CDs.

I just remember Starsiege having incredibly fast hover tanks but, I only played it a bit and then moved onto Tribes(and its many mods). Oh Tribes... I used to make people so mad and I modified the lines that the auto talk mod added in so my character was always spouting of crazy things like 'I have unbroken the generator! Can someone Reprotectorate it?' and 'Hey, you ate my ammo, I was aiming at the other guy!'. That and rocket skiing past peoples base defenses hoping to spin around and boost in time to not splatter against the entryway tunnels back wall.
Ohh the memories.

Had a guy who did that in Starsiege.

One of my favorite game mods from SS and SST was the 'Over-run' mode. Fight against un-ending waves of AI until everyone is dead. I would still love to see a similar game mode in MWO. No point to it, it never ends, just see how long you can last.

Interesting. I cannot see pictures, gifs, or any type of images on this forum anymore. On any browser.

Anyone else getting this?

Thats happens to me from time to time, but usually just certain images in a thread for a day or so.

I cannot see images Marine is posting.

Nor can I see his personal banner thingy in his signature box.

Same with anyone else who has one. But the problem seems to be limited to this forum.
