Just in time for MWO to go 'gold', my accumulated list of things I see as 'needs' for a proper gaming experience in MWO.

Do you agree, not, have your own idea?

Voice it here, maybe PGI will see something they like...

Pretty Solid no nonsense poll for once. Good Job O.P.

Definitely, like the Integrated VOIP, I really don't think there's an excuse not to have one. Back in Cod United offensive it was a luxury. These days it's pretty Standard for the common person to have a microphone-headset. And, not everyone uses one anyway.

A little confused on the "Robust" heat table, Maybe I have not read up on as much as I should have.

Anyway good job! Bumping for the Glory of Man.

On that, in my opinion one of the greatest 'lacks' this game has, as far as balance is concerned, is that the heat table essentially is limited to two affects:

At 100% heat, potential shut down (if you haven't pressed O for over ride)
At 100%+??% heat, random internal damage.

This allows for 'mechs to be at 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% heat capacity for a full 15 minutes with ZERO degradation in 'mech performance.

The lack of a robust heat affects table resulted in the PPC boating issue we had before. People could fire off 2 or 3 rounds of 6 simultaneous PPC/ERPPC before shutting down. You have ERPPC spiders running around at top speed with no degradation at 99.9% heat.

It makes no sense to me.

Look at it like this:

or this:

Which ever "most correctly" represents the relationship between MWO and original TT heat affects table, you can clearly see that MWO is lacking.

The Heat Affects Table was so important to balance that for the past 30 years, it's been printed on EVERY SINGLE MECH SHEET EVER PRODUCED, and almost every other computer version of the game has had incorporated some form of this...

So how PGI could even begin to think they could develop a balanced BT game without it is beyond me.

I like the idea of additional heat effects within <100% heat capacity, but I'm not sure on the ammo Explosion. If mech Chasis are rigorously tested the 100% capacity should include ammo integrity.
From what I read. 100+% Heat damages your mech's engine +percentage based on tonnage. So, heavier mechs are punished more by overheating, BUT this balances out because light mechs can't afford to shut down because of the likelihood they'll be obliterated.

I definitely, like the pilot effects. There needs to be a reason to put Advanced life support module in the game.

There doesn't have to be a 1 to 1 relationship between TT and MWO heat affects though. Considering all the OTHER differences between TT rules/weapons values and such, I don't think having a heat affects table specific to the needs of MWO is out of the question.

They just need to have something more than "eventually shut down", and "some random internal damage".

Here's a short list of heat affects that could easily be implemented in MWO:
Slow down the 'mech.
Make some weapons NOT fire when triggered.
Cause jittered arm movements.
Cause the hud to fade out.
Cause the screen to black out.
Reduce the speed of arm and torso movements

There's probably a lot more possible too, but as it is now, the current table for MWO is so sparse they've had to kludge in really stupid things like the ghost heat mechanism that penalizes boating. What's worse is that it penalizes 'mechs that ARE DESIGNED to be boats!

With a heat affects table that's more 'filled out', stupid stuff like that is not necessary.
