The vast majority of player will have close to 1:1 W/L ratio, specially if you usually play PUG matches.
Even after playing 10k matches you will usually be close to that range (unless you play 12 vs 12 mostly).

And there is no rocket science behind this... It is pretty obvious that if your team goes out without a plan and dies within the very first minutes of the match, there is basically nothing much you can do. Even if you are a decent skilled player with quite a few thousands of matches played it is pretty hard to turn the match to your favor when your team is already down 6-8 mechs.

- If you are in a light or medium mech you could go and try to cap (most likely you will die since it takes way looooonger to cap now) or taking advantage of your speed you could look around for the most damaged mechs and try to take them down.

But there are times when you are not in a light or medium mech and most of the remaining enemy players are pretty light <sighs>.

so...
ELO for me should NOT be based on W/L ratio. It should take way more data but I know is not an easy thing to fix as it sounds.

Anyways... I have tons of fun most of the time

Win to loss mean absolutly nothing in this game. I consider myself pretty good now and I often carry my team to victory, but sometimes there is only so much one or two guy can do. When only 2 of us are competent and the rest of our team rush the oposition like cows in a slaughterhouse there is not much we can do to avoid damage while delivering some of it.

Plus playing in premades greatly improve your W/L, its actually padding your stats because it greatly increase your chance of winning.

I often pick the commander and place marker, call targets, give advices to maximise my change of winning. Though we all know that its nothing compared to voice chat with people that know how to play and build their mech effectively. Anyway, sometimes I get matches where people instead of cooperating simply ignore the markers/advices... and then I get mad because they are doing stupid ****. Like sending all the slow pokes to theta/kappa in alpine or 10 people went to cap kappa on colony and are then engaged without cover.

ELO should be based on average damage and kill/assist/death of the particular mech you chose for that match. I destroy people in my K2(2.51), but Im not that great in my hunch(1.18).

So to answer the topic; I saw a slight improvement, maybe it was a placebo effect, but when I played a heavy most of my team and the other team consisted of heavies/assault, and when I played a medium, there were a lot more mediums around... mostly cent.

The elo spread is less and widens less over time. There are a finite number of similar elo players playing the game at a given time. Even with that, I enjoy the closer matches despite seeing more familiar faces per game.

I've noticed the tonnage is noticeably closer in my average game. In 8v8 the average difference was less than 50 tons, then 12v12 the average weight difference widened, but now it's usually 20 ton difference or less. The occasional game gets screwed up for whatever reason, but it's definitely tighter now.

No comment on Elo. I don't have access to other people's scores so I have no clue if it's better, worse, or the same.

No difference in 17 matches yesterday (the challenge counter has it, I'm not that careful). No failure to find matches. No noticeable extension in waiting for matches.

I didn't even see too many new players. Maybe my Elo is too far below the starting level. Of course, I've been leveling up all my mediums for the past week, and I'm verrry bad in mediums (0.36 KDR in a HBK-4P :) )

Hard to say TBH. Very tricky to intuit "my matches are closer on average" based on anecdotal experience.

During peak hours it seems better. The after-hours crowd, however, that's another story.

I've found that, though momentum can still build inexorably toward a blowout, it seems to happen less (or less noticeably) than it did before.

My impression (unscientific and without tracking match results in any way) is that I've had proportionally more games where both teams remain neck and neck on kills until very late in the process.

I believe there's some background tweaking that's going on that's causing that, but as time has gone on, I'm kinda leaning in that direction.

We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Tonight, in 4 man do drop against good opponents, solo not so much, its a mish mash.
Also, got 6, first win of the night, in a row wins on my mech! I get this "feature" a lot and I love it!

I see more of the same people now, and the games have been less forgiving. I find it a little irritating when trying to level up my Orions, because I'm throwing the game for my team every time I pilot one - there's just no room for ****** Mechs anymore. As soon as someone sees my Orion it's basically as good as dead.
