Gauss Rifle And Whiners

However today i decided to try the champion dragon on free rotation and I have fallen in love with the new gauss rifle I have no idea how people can be whining about this weapon it is so damn good with the projectile speed increase. I scored my first ever +1000 damage game in my second match in a mech I had never used before with a weapon I have hardly used.
People who whine about this weapon are just awful at the game or the new mechanic, the weapon itself is great.
Anyways long story short the game feels like its at a great place right now (maybe the gauss is to strong) and we still have a forum full of annoying little crybabies. I can only hope the devs push there focus to CW and UI2.0 and not listen to the people on the forums wanting everything changed. Sure pulse lasers could use a tweak (imo) but other then that everything just feels right.

I really wish more people would just give it a chance before screaming about how PGI just ***** everything up. It legitimately is actually a better weapon at long range. I also don;t get what is so difficult about the charge mechanic, it is a miniscule hindrance at best, it has not in any way hurt my long range sniping tbh. On an unrelated note, all the champion trail mechs are surprisingly good, I'm pretty happy about that.

agreed....the OP icelom im guessing had never played a jump sniper either ive seen 1 or 2 people useing a gauss in a jump sniper since the change and tryed it myself for a couple of games but quickly traded it in for a AC10 or UAC5. there is a small amount of people that still like it but at a guess they play twin gauss cat/jager's since these are the 2 mechs i see gauss used on the most. it definitly isnt the same weapon.......even with the projectile speed buff.

yea some people still like it. what is your load out on your HM and do you jump snipe with it? i didnt like the idea of useing a weapon that relys on you having to know where your enemy is. with jump sniping you have a small window if oporunity to pick your target and fire when jumping from cover. if you have the skill to jump from cover and hit a moving target every time you a better pilet then me. i found myself missing the target alot while trying to fire it in conjunction with ppc's when jumping and decided it wasnt worth while. in the long run i guess thats the reason it was given a charge time so as to break up the ppc and gauss combo on snap shot reliant mechs.

So I am doing extremely well with it but you say its not as good as it was before? doesn't that mean it needed the nerf? and is now in a better place.

I'm mainly using it as a fire support mech, not a dedicated jump sniper. Meaning I move around with the group but still keeping a few 100m distance. Though I do utilize the jump capability.
Anyway, I'm not able to view the exact setup but it's something like 2 LLas, Gauss, a few SRM, AMS and some XL, can't remember which though. And max jump jets.
I don't always score a hit at the end of the jump but I do tend to hit targets more often than not. Having a good mouse sensitivy setup for myself (what I feel comfortable with) did help my accuracy a lot. Though I do see the point you made that the window of engagement is kind of short with the current system.
