I have already Mastered BlackJacks and Cicadas. My ''go to'' Medium in match play is the Cicada 4-M, or a BJ1-X.

Should I start out mastering Kintaros...?

I like that it's the heaviest Medium, and it's capable of moving quick. However, I'm put off by the model being so big which I suspect means it doesn't last long in a firefight.

I'd appreciate your views.

I've yet to pilot one but from what I can tell from other threads is that the fix has made is much better than what it was upon release. From shooting at them this seems to hold true.

They do have some interesting hardpoints.

They aren't terrible. The 18 is my favorite. 2 Med lasers, 2 SRM 6s, a SRM4 and 2 streaks with an XL, DHS and Endo.

The hitbox fix made their side torsos pretty large, and so large that the frontal CT almost never gets exposed internals. The arms can also deflect a modest amount of fire, but the sides are still the largest targets on the mech. It can be surprisingly tanky if you twist well and pack a big XL engine (STD engines are probably great for zombie-mode like Centurions, but I haven't tried that yet). The obnoxiously tall height is annoying, but the mech can still last fairly long.

I've been running mine in an LRM format, thanks to the variable geometry missile hardpoints ^-^

i like it a lot, it performs very close to a C1 catapult once you get it put together. its short a little armor, and doesn't have Jump Jets. but it is slightly faster and is definitely smaller.

THe hitboxes are ok, i like that the side torso's are sorta hard to hit still makes my XL less of a liability on it lol. i haven't tried stacking SRM's on it but i imagine it runs a little hot if you alpha them.

Thanks for sharing your opinions, all appreciated.

If I was going to Master them, it'd have to be with SRMs and Lasers, I would think.

I enjoy playing my Kintaros, my best performing being the Golden Boy. That said, I can do anything the Kintaro can do only better with my Quickdraws except LRM (never tried with QD and I have catapults and awesomes for that anyway), with the added fun and maneuverability of jump jets. On paper it seems like the QD would be weaker because it suffers from being a small heavy instead of a big medium like the Kintaro but it doesn't play out that way in game for me at least.

I really like my KTO-18 which I run as either this:

or this:

The hitbox changes have really helped this mech.

they make good light mech killers, especially the 18. 360xl , 5 ssrm2 , beagle and two medium lasers or a erll seems to be the most common build.

The Lerm golden boy is a good build and has enough speed to get the hell outta there.

That's what I had in mind.

tried my GB on 1 drop today, stock engine seems to slow for the Kintaro on large maps. I didn't destroy any mechs, but it can take a beating. was able to fire all my weapons until my mech was destroyed, was happy that I can brawl with heavy and assaults and still cause a lot of damage.
