If you guys could look at my current build for my Heavy Metal, I'd appreciate it.

The first thing I got rid of was the Gauss Rifle. I'm a new player and just not that good with it. I replaced it with AC/5... 10 wouldn't fit weight wise.

The output damage seems mediocre to decent. I seem to do about 200-400 damage a round at times. The heat sinks are kind of low but if I use heat management discipline, I seem to do ok with not overheating unless it's a lava type planet.

I chose the STD engine because I got tired of dying due to torso side explosions.

Thanks.

Well I created this thread a bit ago on the subject, but personally if I was you and using your restrictions I'd make a Modded HEAVY METAL.

The 3xLL runs hot and doesn't make up for the much cooler running loss in ballistic power so they were downscaled to 3xML and the extra weight pumped into upgrading the AC5 to a AC10. To make up a slight drop in firepower a single SRM6 was added, though a pair of SRM2s or SRM4s could be added instead. The AC10 comes with 45 rounds (3 tons) of ammo, the SRMs have 200 missiles. A extra DHS and was added using some extra tonnage from the legs and the leftover weight from dropping FF.

Don't use Ferro on assaults. It does not give you more armor, it just weighs less at the cost of critical slots. Those slots are more important for assaults than the extra tonnage, except in extreme circumstances.

Also, rarely do you need more than one jump jet. The first one you equip gives you 3 seconds of lift. Each one after that will give you one more second. The fact that they weight 2 tons each for the highlander means it will take up a lot of weight for marginal benefit.

This one is the simplest modification HEAVY METAL

If you don't mind dropping the AMS you can get another heatsink in there and up the leg armor a little.HEAVY METAL

Or if you don't mind dropping the engine down to a 300 you could use dual AC5's. HEAVY METAL

Those 3 LL's can also be swapped out for 2 PPC's and a heatsink if you want the pinpoint sniping damage instead of the beam duration from lasers. It also might be a more heat efficient option because of ghost heat.

Actually more JJs also gives you more acceleration (upwards), so the actual jump itself is faster. This is most noticeable on the Spider 5V with 12 JJs, it actually feels like it's got a rocket strapped to it's ***. 5-6 Isn't quite as fun, but still noticeable over 1.

Btw hopefully whenever PGI stop being lazy and implement directional thrust more JJs should be more helpful for that as well.
