Hey everybody, I had an idea for a Hunchie and threw it together in Smurfies:

Just wondering if anybody had any ideas/suggestions as to setup and use, and whether or not this would be a useful build. I designed it to be used with a macro to prevent jamming, and provide continuous fire from the UAC at about a round per second.

Anyways, input would be greatly appreciated!

Bunch of comments:

1) XL Engine are a death sentence in a hunchback, the first thing anyone will target on your mech is the huge RT because they know that's what most of you firepower is.

2) You'll never use that much ammo for a single UAC/5. I only carry 6 tones of ammo on my Jagermech which has two of them.

3) If you're only ever going to use a macro to make sure you don't Jam the autocannon, you may as well just use a regualr AC/5 and save the extra ton for something else. UAC/5's were recently changed to have the same 1.5 second fire rate as a normal AC/5 so there's no DPS gain unless you're double-tapping.

4) You can afford to drop some heatsinks. 100% heat efficiency means you can continuously fire forever and never overheat, but realistically when you add aiming & moving targets into the mix you won't be firing continually.

With that in mind, I'd run something like this if you're deadset on keeping the UAC/5: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...93fa2d4bb5055be . That being said, I feel like a single UAC/5 isn't a big enough threat on the 4G with it's limited energy hard points to complement it. You're probably better off with an AC/10 or AC/20. Probably can't fit 2 UAC/5's in a 4G without it either being too slow to be useful.

If you don't care about losing the double tap, looks like you can fit double AC/5's without being a glacier: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...54d3de1863e374c

If you want to run a UAC/5 huchback, the 4H is probably better suited for it. You can add a few more lasers than you can in the 4G: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...2c9aae1613aab1a

Haven't really run these builds, just messing around with the mechlab, but hopefully it helps you out.

Ok thanks a ton for the advice. I've been using a Blackjack 1X for a LONG time, and frankly I'm tired of all lasers without the shock and awe factor. Plus it's too slow and tall to scout or cap, but way too fast to not be seen as a pest to be eliminated. As such, I rarely survive a round and damage output is just not effective. I think the Hunch will work well for me; something that packs a punch with a chunk of armor but doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, ya know?

You may wish to try an AC10 build 4H then perhaps something like this?

I've actually found it's easier (for me at least) to blend in with my Blackjacks. Granted you're a lot more fragile than a Hunchback, but you also don't have a huge SHOOT ME sign on your shoulder either. The -1X is an assassin when you get used to it.

AC10 builds are definitely solid, I run that w/ an LB-10X instead in my -4H.
