I've been completely unaware of MWO until a few days ago after trying Hawken. I think I stumbled across a comparison vid on youtube. All I can say is, I've not touched Hawken since my first MWO game. Last Mech game I played before this was MechWarrior 2. To be honest any games I see with 'Online' as part of the title I've steered well clear of. MWO was a pleasant surprise. Awesome visuals that run fast on a modest system and very addictive gameplay. My feedback/questions. Is it possible to play something other than 12 vs. 12? Could I play 4 vs. 4 or meet a friend on a specific server or is it always random? Will the Launch screen (MechLab, PilotLab etc.) become full screen? And my biggest criticism, the thermal mode is really NOT thermal. The idea of thermal imaging is to distinguish hot from cold. But when I've used it on snow maps it makes the landscape white and other mechs glowing white. It doesn't distinguish enough and considering this is future technology, maybe this filter could be improved to make it more useful. In fact, on a youtube vid I saw the thermal image as a Predator style filter. Was it already changed once? Otherwise congrats on an awesome game. I understand there's been a lot of bad feeling during the games development (seems to be normal in forums). Considering it's free-to-play, all I see is gravy. Actually makes me wish for a reboot of the old with single player campaign.

The "predator heatvision" was changed a while back already, because when it was there - no one used anything else. Welcome to the game, btw.

Yes, the old multi-colored heat vision made it too easy to spot a target and we would used it as the defaut "show me the bad guy" button. I'm glad they changed it. And besides, the colors made me nauseous.
That being said, I agree with you that the heat vision is completely broken on the cold maps. The environment there should go dark and the mechs should stick out much more. Why they made it that way, I have no idea. I thought they would tweak it after they implemented it, but nothing has changed.
It's like the issue of the concrete pebbles... people complained the first week that they implemented the new movement paradigm (which now imposes a speed penalty when climbing steep hills) but nothing as changed and now we've just learned to live with it... I just hope they get to it at some point...
