Just wanted to start a thread for New Players in some helpful tips to Help your team win or at least be less aggravating!

MWO is a team game where you interact with other players to defeat an opposing force. As much as you may feel like a badass stomping around in a 100 ton death machine you are still going to die very quickly against multiple mechs if you go alone. While I understand it is frustrating when people keep walking in front of you or getting shot in the back you're chances of having more success and fun is to work with your fellow lance-mates.

Always keep a few things in mind, most important is institutional awareness. Be aware of how you are moving with your teammates.

1) Don't be too close to them, not only does it make it hard for you to shoot past him at a target without chancing you causing friendly fire it also prevents your teammate from retreating if he turns a corner and exposes himself to a superior enemy firing line.

2) This is likewise for the Mech in front of a column, Do NOT stop right before cover to take shots at the enemy wanting to take those few extra shots. You know how much you HATE morning traffic jams caused by that one slow person in the middle lane, don't be that person. Please continue moving into cover so the rest of your team following you can do the same as quickly as possible. Yes people can move around you but that just causes a chain reaction where everyone is trying to maneuver around while taking more enemy fire than they would have to.

If you have any tips, please post them!

If you are a slow heavy or assault. Do not follow the lights taking off to scout/cap/whatever. Continue with the main pack.

On the same note. Do not leave your group to take off after a light hitting your rear. He WANTS you to chase the squirrel. So you and your group can be taken out piecemeal as they string out after the light.

Mediums should stay with the Assaults and protect them from fast movers (unless you travel faster then 100kph).
Heavies can range a bit farther but be mindful of where the team is. Missile boats should stay at minimum 180m away from other missile boats. This way they can drop missiles on the light trying to circle the missile their team mate. If flanking coordinate with main group, which should do a full push once the enemy is got there backs turned.

Keep an eye on the main group. It doesn't take much to get separated and singled out.

As mentioned already don't stop to take shots while headed to cover.

Be aware of choke points. The openings leading into the Pit on Terra Therma are perfect examples. If your I. If your in it you've got as many guns pointing at your back as you do your chest.

Concerning lights. Usually a light, like the spider, will get hung up on something. When it does don't hesitate to strike.

Caustic valley. Try going left for once.

Lights! While going through caves go between 40-60kph and the enemy will assume your an assault on seismic.
