If you torso twist at the last second, they wont see that till 200-300ms later, and will still hit your CT.
Also some mechs can be hit relatively easily on front CT from the rear by getting some elevation, or even just shooting an atlas in the back/side of the head.

likewise I've had full rear armour, faced away from the guy shooting me, and ran away then got shot from him and took front ct damage
this issue has been around, but it became very prevalent with the hsr fix most recently

This is not it. I have been moving forward, had a light come up behind me, shot me in the rear without my knowledge that he was even there and kill me from the front while my rear armor was very good (yellow) with front armor being gone with a red center.
Its poor hit detection at best.

Since you offered your opinion, I'll offer mine... It is by design, PGI design. It has been this way since closed beta and PGI has had ample opportunity to change this behavior but has chosen not to. The lower joint that many refer to as the mechs nut sack between the mech legs if hit from behind is really a CT shot from front or rear. Now that you are armed with this information, you can use it to your advantage. You do not have to agree with the way things are to accept that they are the way they are. Speed limits while driving are a prime example. Often I think they are set too low, but if I ignore them, sooner or later I will get a ticket for speeding, that is my responsibility.

You comment true or not does not change this fact. Its still poor hit detection at best, and intentional bad design at worst. I tend to agree with you that its the latter, but was attempting to be kind.

My comment does not change your attitude, but your attitude does change your perception. it is a little thing that makes a big difference. you can choose to accept things or not to accept things...
