I know the launch was underwhelming at best but you can't even throw together a little something?
Smite is still in beta and they have had a couple $10k plus tourneys and DOTA II had a what 2.6 million dollar one at launch. At least you could have another cheapo $10 dollar and some chachkas rewards tourney.....
Holy **** I would of donated a hundred bucks so you would of had at least had a almost non-laughable prize. You could of even had a Overlord or add on pack give away for the winner, which would of cost you some pixels. Hell even a hero mech of your choice.
This game makes me sad...I took a couple months off to be fresh for launch as I was tired of doing the same game mode. I come back a week before launch and see nothing has changed and then found out nothing was changing. So I guess log off for another month and hope that when the phoenix comes in something is different? Maybe next year?

There is a launch tournament, its invitational only and its in San Francisco next Thursday.

Well maybe it will be a two week launch event and the first week is an intentional letdown so week two seems really amazing.

yes there is a launch turny but its at the launch party itself (I was invited and will be going ). From the looks of it, UI 2.0, DX11 and first parts of CW will all be there, so more or less that day is not only showing off these things. Its also a test bed for those things, if all checks out at the party, we may see those things roll in on the next patch cycle (october).

No tournament in August, none in September.
I guess tournament players are no longer their target demographic.

I've wanted a tournament for a while, but wouldn't have wanted one this weekend. Reason being, it's impossible for me to drop solo. Hard to participate in a tournament when your ELO is too high to play this game alone - it's Failed to Find Match endlessly.

Is THAT what's going on now? It take me like 5 minutes no exaggeration to drop sometimes. Play 95% solo. This started about the same time launch happened.

That nerf... is working as intended™, unfortunately.

The game isn't really ready for tournaments yet. They are more focused on getting new players into the game at the moment and increasing their player base. Once that is done (and they still have some work to go for this) then they are going to focus more on the 'hardcore' players.

They would like to make it more of an e-sport but that is more for the future. The tournaments that they have already had were really just tests to experiment on (according to the devs). So that they could find pitfalls and she what works before they try. Realistically the people that are looking for real tournaments and events will probably have to wait until next year.
