The Small Laser is the perfect weapon for that ballistic build where you might not need any more ammo, or might not have enough tons for an ML, or want the increased DPS offered by two small lasers, or really just want to throw on one emergency infinite ammo weapon.

I think there needs to be a point where you're actually considering using small lasers instead of medium lasers, where it's not an automatic choice. For a lot of my mechs, I have to make a hard choice between large lasers and medium lasers, but small lasers never enter the equation.

Even if they had identical range, the low damage makes the medium laser an easy choice for most mechs.

A small laser is a hold out weapon. Increasing the range does not make them much better. I only use them when I need to fill half a ton and it does not pay to put in a single case. I have had several kills in my hunchbacks from that solitary small laser. My hunchbacks lose their primary weapons frequently, so I am left with only a single small laser. It is what it is--a weapon of last resort.

What is that Gorgeous beast! <_<

So a 35 ton vehicle have the same amount of space for weapons as a 100 ton vehicle? I would think not.

That mech is the Gùn. It's a 20 ton Capellan Omnimech. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Gun

As for crit space, those light mechs don't have enough tonnage to fill all of the slots unless you do munchkin Micro Laser/SL/ERSL/MG boating on a massive scale. Crit space was one of the equalizers in BT, as was the heat system (all mechs had identical capacity and cooling, assuming equal number of heatsinks). The heavies and assaults are already plenty strong, you don't need to nerf the little guys. Did a Locust get a lucky crit on your Battlemaster's MG ammo or something? :P

Didn't PGI imply that Assaults are endgame content now, when Paul said we needed less C-Bill gains because people could afford Assaults too quickly?

It would be consistent. Assaults are also the most expensive in MC, why shouldn't they be the best then? It's not like a light or medium needs less modelling work than an Assault, so the difference must be explained by Assaults being more powerful.

Remember, the dev blogs where just their position at the time.

In this regard, MW:O might be a true successor to all previous mechwarrior titles. Going boldly where previous games have gone before. And I mean, back i nthe days, I worked myself up from a Bushwacker to an Annihilator beating the Clans back with my small lance. And we liked it.

That is exactly how I use them on my Blackjacks and Jagers. In that capacity they work very well.
