Just got to thinking about the upcoming "UI 2.0" and how I just sort of assumed it would fix the features I wanted it to fix. I realized that I have no idea if it will, or if my priorities are anything like the majority of players. So, what are the 3 most important things you want UI 2.0 to accomplish?
For me, in priority would probably be:
1. Fix the Social Interface. Make notifications more apparent, allow messaging with non-friended players, allow messaging to players who are still in-game (even if they don't see it until they get out), have some sort of optional audio cues for when the group readies up for launch, allow "Friend Groups", and stop this absurd thing where your cursor pops out of the input window whenever your friends change online/in-game/offline status.
2. Better Mech Organization. Allow us to sort our mechs by weight, chassis, or just click and drag if nothing else. Ideally allow us to "save" mech loadouts for later, assuming we have the parts we can just click and go.
3. Improve the UI homepage to something useful. Mostly just a better allocation of space. I understand the need to push MC sales, but the ratio of space dedicated to actual game related content to product pushing is wayyy off.
I started this discussion to try and be productive, please don't come in and just post your complaints, if you're going to complain, be passive-agressive and put them in a 3-point format as things you want improved for UI 2.0 at the very least.

In my opinion the 3 topics you mentioned really are the most important right now.
1. The social features are just way too few so far compared to other lately released games. Messaging you friends while they are still in game would be great. The messages should also be noticed more easily.
2. The Mechlab is just a mess as it is right now. I love finding new loadouts and stuff, but I'm only using http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/ for that so far and I am pretty sure 90% of the community does it alike. Sure smurfy does not look nice or anything, but at least it work perfectly fine and there you can have a very good overview over you complete mech.
3. I've talked about your third point within my group aswell. There just is a lot of adds, which blocks the space for useful things. Maybe a fullscreen could add some more space, so there will be room for adds and for social stuff as well.
4. I know you said 3 points, but there is something else, which really bugs me. I'm not sure if it is about UI though. There should be groups for 5-11 mates aswell. I'm with 4 friend usually, so 5 in total, and one of us always has to play on his own. Would it be such a big deal to allow groups of lets say 6 or 8 mates, too? I think it would not twist the balance. Just send a group of 6 mates against two groups of 4 and everything will work out great.

A shiny new ingame store. That's all I really need. All those other so called "features" aren't necessary. This game is out of beta. If people wanted them in, don't you think the devs would have listened and/or put them in by now? Honestly...

Lobby
A better mech selection. I am going to have nearly 40 mechs by the end of the year with Phoenix + Saber mechs and it's already pain to manage my existing ones
A way to filter mechs that are equipped with modules.

It to be here
Faster mech bay updating after each battle (its painfully slow now with 71 mechs, with another 18 at least by the end of the year, it will crawl, coupled with slow match making times now, if it dosn't speed up its going to be pointless)
