If you allocate the hunchback armor right picking off the RT is not so easy as people think it is.

So you have a whopping "Dragon's worth of armor", allocated in a zone that's impossible to miss from any angle.

Still bad.

I don't see what the problem with the Hunchback is. Ya sometimes someone gets your torso but then you can either distract them so your team can get them or go cap. I have personally taken even something like an atlas head on with my 4G and won. You just have to try and guess when they will fire and take the hit on your left side. I have noticed it works best in the city maps though. That way you can hit and move. I couldn't do very well in the Jagers but I really enjoyed the Blackjacks. They have speed and firepower but I like to brawl so I don't normally use them.

Hi,

Here's my take on it.

I have Mastered all three.

If you go with a Hunchback, the STD engine is the most important part you equip in it.

If you go Blackjack, I personally like the fastest engine possible and usually put in an XL so as to mount multiple AC5's.

If you go Jager, it depends on the role you'll be playing. But truth be told, most of my favorite Jager builds also use XL engines. I see the Jagers as DAMAGE PLATFORMS, so try to cram as much fire power into and go out in flames, while taking others with you.

They ( Jagers ) really are not Mechs to outlast via durability, where as Cents and Hunchbacks kinda are, oddly...

That's my take on it....and I do quite well in these three platforms.

The blackjack is an odd little mech. It's main gimmick is being the most mobile AC carrier in the game. It does it's job pretty well but it's slow for it's weight so it really lives or dies based on how well you use your jumpjets. It lacks the arms or durability to brawl so you have to know when to disengage and what escape route to use. In my opinion it plays more like a slow jenner than a jagermech. Altho the high arms do still let you lay down some annoying fire support if you find a nice spot to hull down.

One thing I do like about Jaegs and BJs is very OCD. They are one of the few mechs that are symetrical in a very balanced way. My JM A has all it's ballistics and missiles on the arms, but energy in the torsos. I like that because then I don't get goofyassed aiming patterns that often cause me to miss because I'm a lousy shot. Also why I run LRMs a lot. The others are unbalanced in that you have energy or ballistics scattered across arms and torso or you have to play with the torso twist. It's one of the reasons I'll be avoiding so many models.

OCD? Probably a littlle.

THe Hunchy Is my favorite mech, it's my goto for money, fun and points.
My #1 mech in the game...The 4G_"BLOX" : AC20 and 2MLs, 71mph std 220
My tactic is to hang in a crowd of heavies and kick the enemy when he is down, I mean a good kick to the plumbs or nose. That AC20 packs quite a BUSTING in the rocks and my 2 ML are the poke in the eye.

Or I poke an enemy and run back to lead them in to an ambush. Oh it's so satisfying when people follow me in to a 3 to 5 mech smash. I use street tactics.

At this point I have been waiting to branch out to the BlackJack and now it is time to buy one. Which is best or will I just be board with the BJ?
I thank you for all the advice you have all given in this thread!
