well, given that certain forums have become inactive about talking about general topics i'll post here, because it pretty much is about previous patches and such. it spans back aways tho.

this is about as "old school fan" (yobnaf can't be used apparently) as i get (which really isn't "that" bad honestly) :)

i'll get the first stink bug in the punchbowl out of the way.
3rd person: in short, i don't like it and don't think it should be there. however i don't think it "destroyed" the game and warranted the level of player riots it caused. i don't use it and it's bad yes, but i'll live.

Gauss Rifle: this one caught me by surprise, adding a timing "game" to fire a weapon that; in my opinion was just fine the way it was. will a: confuse new players, b: really annoy the older folks and c: i just totally stopped using a Gauss on any mech i had it on. it's already big, heavy and easy to break. i decided i didn't want to deal with "this" too.

Jump Jets: the initial jump jet shake, made me stop using my Jenner, the later change to reduce it, made me a little more able to use it again (modest thanks). i was really hoping the effect would get tossed in the scrap heap, but it looks like it's here to stay. i would have at least preferred the shake to be taken off at least the Lights, but i can still pull off pretty good jump shots in my Jenner if i tap the jets just right. so i'll cope.

Mech appearance: now this i liked. you change out equipment on a mech and you'll actually see the different stuff actually "on" your mech. i thought "neat!" right. although it seems that many of the previously released mechs got neglected. if i take the AC20 off my Atlas the gun is still there, if i change my Awesome it's set up still looks the same no matter what i put on it, among others. i'm not sure if there is any plan to update these later, but i hope there is.

Ghost Heat: i simultaneously both like and despise this one. i could say that we kinda brought this on ourselves by making boring yet effective loadouts (like cramming as many PPCs as you can on a Stalker). i do like that don't see that dam 6 PPC Stalker as much anymore, but i think the change should have been limited to the bigger weapons. in general the change didn't affect my play style that much. i almost always varied my weapon loads on my machines, hell my Atlas sports 2L lasers, 2M lasers, 2 LRM15s and an AC20. i run on chain fire to keep a constant stream of damage and that's i did before this change as well. it still works.

well those are my thoughts, i don't think they really "killed" the game... but it did receive a few stab wounds. with proper medical treatment it can recover with no permanent damage, but there may be some trauma and mental scarring.

I disagree with you on a bunch of counts, but it's so subjective it's not worth arguing over.
I do however have something to add.

Mech appearance: The older mechs will be getting updated, I think they're doing it progressively. It was only earlier this year they started building mechs with switchable parts. So a lot of mechs still don't support it. Any new variants will though.

Ghost heat:
It's not as bad as people make out.
You just have to keep an eye on what/when you're firing. Newbies may not know the mechanic, but if they fire 3 PPC's they'll look at the heat and say: "Well Im not doing that again" and fire more conservatively or build a more balanced mech.
WOT's has loads of mechanics that newbies won't understand, side-scraping and shell physics are part of this. MWO is much easier to get in to by comparison. So I don't think it's a big issue here.

ahh, well thanks for resisting the urge to flame lol. i just had to share my feelings on the matters :)

good to hear that the older mechs wont be neglected forever tho.
but as far as Ghost Heat goes is there a set time you have to space weapons apart to avoid it. i have my weapons on chain fire but i'm not sure if i'm still getting hit for shooting them at the same time if i just mash the chain fire. in the thick of battle it can be hard to tell.

The only weapon that ghost heat is totaly fked on so far as i can see , is the AC2 due to its fast relode time its impossible to rapid fire anymore, it can also kick in in normal alpha shots somtimesit seems aswell. Hopefully this gets fixed.

The guass rifle could use with a ROF buff, and/or optimal range buff to compensate for the charge time, but the mechanic i have no problem with. I use dual gauss Jager, and its 'ok'.

As for JJ shake. that HAD to come in. MWO is/was trying to be as sim like as possible, this isnt Armored Core and the like, u want jump shooting and that kinda stuff u go play the mirriad of other hyper sci-fi/anime style robot shooters that are out there. JJ's were there only for helping with terrain obsticals, the reason JJ shake was introduced was becouse players started using this mechanic in a stupid way, if weapons fire had any physics behind them, when u shot or got hit whilst 'poptarting' u would end up on ur back, that lack of game mechanics/physics ment they had to introduce at the minimum some kind of shake to discourage poptarting.

i may be mistaken, but i think i remember in the TT game if you took a hit while JJing you had to make a pilot check to avoid actually getting knocked over when you landed. jeez i think if a Jenner got tagged with an AC20 while airborn it would send it tumbling end over end lol.
and "poptarting" never bothered me, i'd see the guy hover up to shoot and 9 times outa 10 i nailed him before he got a shot off. i'm still able to do alot of my "stunt jumping" with my Jenner tho. i'd usually run in, jump, spin around and snap off a few more shots while hovering backwards then run in another direction. usually confuses people :P
