The Misery can pack an AC20, 5 MLs and an artemis SRM6. Why get an Atlas hero instead? The medium lasers heat isn't manageable anyhow, so in a real brawl these lasers are moderately useful. You can play hit&run with them to cool down, but Atlai are typically too slow for this.

OK so real quick build but you could put a standard 340 engine and have max armor except for 49 on each leg then have 2x large lasers, 2x large pulse lasers and 2x medium lasers with 23 double heat sinks (4 in each side torso, one in each hand and 3 in your extra engine slots) and you've got a fearsome energy brawler. Still might be tricky to keep cool but if your careful you can easily pull it off and do some good damage in the process.

I'm not crazy about it tbh.

I know there's no real precedent for a super ballistic centric Atlas but I held out hope for one.

I'm not even sure how to keep 6 mlas, srms and an AC/20 cool while still running at or over 60kph, I can barely do it on the D.

I really hope someday we get a ballistic centric assault. I hope PGI's answer to balancing ballistics is not to simply never allow us to pilot a ballistic heavy assault.

Here is to hoping the Annihilator makes it way in to MWO.

Any one know if maybe this one will take a bigger engine and be the fastest Atlas like some of the other hero mechs?

Technically it's possible to put 6 large lasers on there and an AC20. Just did it on SSW with a Standard 300 and ES and 2 tons of AC20 ammo (less engine and one less external heatsink if you want more ammo).

The heat management on the other hand would be pretty harsh. So most likely the loadout will be kept as is but upgraded with the usual bigger engine and DHS, maybe ES. There will of course be everything in between so it should be entertaining.

Yeah that would run crazy hot, but massive damage. Maybe two Large Pulse and four Medium Lasers with the AC/20 and an SRM 6 for funsies...

Realistically it's a $20.99 mech on sale to me, and I've got other things I'd spend my MC on before this. It's $24.19 on sale or $31.22 reg. if you buy MC in one transaction JUST to buy the mech.

Won't the next assault mech sale be when the next assault mech comes out? and if so that means the sale won't be happening until January next year when the battlemaster comes out for Cbills....

Even if your math is 100% I didn't bother checking it, $24.19 is ridiculous for 1 mech and don't get me started on the $31.22 figure that is just so far out there for 1 mech I can't put words on it. I love the atlas but I love money more, I ain't buying it.

Assuming it is running the same specs as the "AS7-D (Danielle)" variant described in Historical Turning Points: Misery (which the visible loadout would seem to suggest), it would likely be running the same Engine as the standard AS7-D (e.g. a Std 300).

Though, until it comes out (or someone pulls data from the game files, as was done for the Kintaro), we can't say that it necessarily wouldn't be running a different-rating Engine, or using LosTech (FF armor, DHS, or ES structure)...

It's possible considering the source is from Van Kleven, but they might use the AS7-D Danielle specs as proposed by others.

Quote

On the battlefield, Van Kleven uses his Atlas, which he calls the Boar's Head, like a 100-ton scout. He stomps all over the field, creating general terror in the enemy lines and almost always overheating his 'Mech

In other news, Balkan ******** a-ok because {Godwin's Law} were worse.

Edit: Really? REALLY? I get the {Godwin's Law} thing, although that's more properly used in reference to {Godwin's Law}, but really? ********? It's a noun, and not an inherently inflammatory or offensive one. Especially what with it being a thing in the setting.

PGI seems to churning out Hero Mechs from their 3 month buffer, all is well. Willing to pay is willing to pay. I bought a heavy metal and don't regret it one bit.
If a product would cater to everyone it would be perfect and the only product available for purchase..

compared to a misery it's really lackluster.
and really expensive for that.

just build several RS and left the spaces and tons for additonal lasers and it's not woking that great.
the best ist probably to kick the rockets out and fill it with heatsinks instead.
6 mlas, 1 ac20, std350 engine and 20DHS are the only way to make real use of those 6 mlas... otherwise you will shutdown after 2 shots...

If it's the Boar, and the Boar was an Atlas scout...

Does that mean it comes with ECM and BAP and a high-rated engine?

Well they did say the assault class is the end game and higher avatar.

And the atlas is the highest mech in game according to the AtD.

At least that's their position at this time. Once upon a time, all weighs and weight classes were supposed to be equally viable and useful.
